Strange Factory Floor Jack?

Anyone ever came accross one of these? I saw it mounted in the back of a Camaro in the spare wheel well with the tire still installed.

It works just like a regular floor jack, minus the wheels.

Here's a pic...looks alot safer than the regualr factory siccor(sp?) style jacks?

Here's the two different styles. I've never seen the floor jack style...and now that I have one....I am somewhat considering actually keeping a jack and spare in the car now.....just maybe though.

But seriously, this floor jack and lug nut wrench is a much better design than the others.

Thats the style of jack that came in '82-86 F-bodies. In '87 GM switched to that cheapie sissor jack.

I had one of those "floor Jacks" and it would only go so high. I got a Flat in my 83 Riv, and I could not get the jack high enough to change the tire. The screw ones are a little more clumsy, but In my opionion they are (slightly) safer and they work better, never had a problem with one of those.

fits great in the bottom of the snap on tool box (which fits perfect in the well so it doesnt slide around) i got through a mountain dew promotion last year
