92 Formula 350 w/t-tops
I just picked up a 92 Formula 350 w/t-tops. I didn't think that t-tops were available on the 350 cars. I looked up the rpo codes and it has CC1 which is lexan t-tops and B2L performance package 5.7 TPI and also L98 which is the 5.7 TPI. I know there weren't many 350 Formulas made in 92, but I can't find any info on how many were built with the 350 and t-tops. Anyone have the numbers on these cars? BTW I only paid 2500 for it. It has 130k miles and is very clean, runs strong and had no codes stored in the ECM. Looks like I found another rare one.

Welcome to the forum. Your car sounds quite a bit like mine. I also recently purchased a '92 Formula with the 350 and t-tops. There is a prodiuction chart on this site that shows there were a total of 1,017 Formulas made in '92, although it doesn't give a breakdown as to how many came with both the 350 and t-tops. Rare cars, for sure, so I don't know about you, but I love having one!
Here's a link to the chart...scroll down a bit for the production numbers once you get to the page:

Late 1991 & 1992 Formulas are the only cars to get T-tops and a 350... How you would order one is by opting for the Formula, then you had to upgrade to the black crosslace rims and then you could order T-tops, it is suposedly the only way you could order a T-top Formula 350.
Neat thing is you should have the 3.23 gear, the R6P option for all the performance goodies.
As a note, the black cross laced wheels on the Formula were Maditory for the T-350 cars, HOWEVER, I believe you could order the cross lace wheels without the 350 and or T-tops.

Thanks, it does have the black cross lace wheels and 3.23 rear axle. I thought that I had read at one time that there were around 480 350 Formulas made in 92. I was just wondering if someone had the numbers on the t-top 350 cars. I would guess less than 100 and maybe less than 50.

Interesting info about the black wheels, okfoz. When I bought my car, I actually asked the owner to remove them and replace them with a set of 16" Formula wheels. I just didn't dig the look of the black ones. Maybe I should see if he still has them, if they are part of what made the car a special "package".

Only the fronts IIRC were used on the GNX,
They were also lighter, and therefore it freed up more HP. On an ADD side note: I was watching a Tuner show on Speed, and after they upgraded to larger brakes and larger rims they were dumbfounded to why they lost 17 HP!!! It was actually because of the extra centrifical weight, the actual weight of the parts was lighter but because the weight was further out it caused the a loss... only after a header install did they recover the lost HP.
John
Edit: Oh yeah there were a total of 403 Formula 350's in 1992, no further breakdown. (US SALES)

89 is a huge production year for T-top 350 cars, Although you could get T-tops in 87 & 88 with a 350 they are much more rare and not as common. In 1989 however there was a rush to get a 350 and T-tops as it was no longer restricted.
I was told a little more than 1000 T-top 350 Formulas alone were made in 1989.
