Mud flaps

I don't know if this has anything to do with history or restoration. I just wondered, did all IROC's come with IROC-Z mud flaps? My 86 has mud flaps, but they say Camaro. I've just wondered this for a while. I tried to get some new ones for my car, but I guess they are discontinued or something.

Z28 mud flaps are still available, but the original IROC-Z mudflaps are not, and they are very hard to find. When I see them on ebay, they usually go for $40 or more a pair. Because of this, I've decided to just go with the Z28 flaps for now.

You have got to be kidding me? GM and aftermarket vendors sold various different mudflaps over the counter, but I don't recall ever seeing factory mudflaps.

BTW I have a set of IROCZ mudflaps on my Iroc... the font isn't the GM font... I doubt they're factory.

I got "Pontiac" mudflaps from my local GM dealer when I bought my car. They didn't have "GTA"s.

I thought I was the only person the put mudflaps on their car. I was expecting to see a ton of people criticizing others for putting mudflaps on.

Personally I would rather NOT have mudflaps on, but when I saw what just the rain did to the finish of my doors and rear quarter panels, I learned to like them.

At home I've got the factory part numbers for the OEM Z28 mud flaps. Somewhere I may have the OEM part number for the IROC flaps too. I bought my Z28 flaps from Willie and they were still unopened in their original GM packaging.

Yes, GM sells various mudflaps over the counter at the dealership. As well as giant red, white, blue bowtie stickers, Pontiac excitement windshield banners, hats, shirts, key fobs, etc... My point is that while these may be GM licensed parts, they did'nt really "come with" the car from the factory. They're just another tacky add on. Right up there with key guards, reflective door edge moldings, decals, bug-flectors, cow catchers, rollbars, etc...

FWIW you can buy the exact same mudflaps at the local Champion auto parts as the mudflaps that GM dealers sell. The only difference is that GM's come in nice GM packaging.

My guess is GM figures they can make a buck by selling cheapo addons with thier packaging.

I still have yet to find a set like the ones that came on my car. There White and in black they say Camaro. As for the way they look on the car I think they look good(as mud flaps go) the car stayed alot cleaner when I had them on But the edges were all split and cracked They look good on the car mostly cus the white on white dont miss match the car. the dealler only had black ones and I know that would look nasty If any one has a set let me know

Those mud flaps are the ones I have on my Camaro now, says CAMARO and has chevy symbol. They are all tattered and tore and stuff. I saw another IROC once, that had flaps that said IROC-Z on them. So, I "assumed" that they were a factory add on.

I searched everywhere to find the correct ones for my car as well. They were available through GM, but it may have been a dealer option. They are still available, but the dealership I deal with said that they would have to buy something like 20 sets to be able to get any. So, I punted and bought the GM all black ones.

IMHO in having a car w/o mudflaps next to another exactly same car w/ mudflaps they make a world of difference. Maybe it's just me but I think they look pretty damn good.

White car. Sticky Tires. Massive Burnouts. Mudflaps.

Without mudflaps its bug&tar remover and a full weekend to get it off. I don't like the way they look but I like the way they work!
