Help Decoding RPO's

Ok i used the thirdgen.org decoder and it couldn't find a few RPO's for me here they are.
  • YT9
  • Y06 OR Y06 (zero)
  • WY5
  • 17C OR I7C
  • 55P
  • NOD OR N0D (zero)
  • BU8
  • D1C OR DIC
If anybody knows these or can provide a link to another Decoder that would help a lot. Thanks

I think NOD means your car was build in Norwood, Ohio. 17C is a color code of some kind. I dunno the others.

I managed to find the following.
WY5 is some sort of aero pkg. Which one I don't know.
17C is charcoal custom cloth interior used in 1982-1984.
55P is definetly a wheel color. Gold or champagne maybe.
D1C is a paint option "code" for high gloss.
Hope this helps.

From what these guys have been saying, it sounds like those are codes for a Recaro package. The package included aero wheels, recaro seats, and the Ws6 suspension.

Sweet, i know the lower body graphics were once gold, but someone either stripped them or repainted the car. The engine is a LG4 so im not too sure about the Recaro option. Although, it turns really quick and tight, that is a standout feature of my car. Oh the wheels are Gold, btw.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the Recaro still came with the LG4. I was looking at one here with 40k origional miles. I thought it was the sweetest car ever until I say the engine stats.

Like my sig says, i really wanna put something powerful in there (pumps out 600 pounds of Torque!) I need to buy the gold trim for the lower body panel, and repaint the aerodynamic kit gold. Interior is currently trash. The (stock) engine repair is being finished (it's a daily & i've had some problems) so i will be doing weatherstripping and the exterior in the coming future along with more power of course!

This is word for word out of a RPO book from the GM engineering dept. This does'nt make it the GM RPO bible by any means. For example, my '82 T/A is a WS7 because the vendor who supplied GM with rear disk brakes in '82 ran out because everyone was ordering the disk option. So they recoded mine (and all others in the last of the 82 run WS7's. A WS6 with rear drum. In this book WS7 say's..WS7 owners manual...information. So i hope some of the codes help but alot of them change thier meaning through the years. Unlike some codes that aways mean the same thing like G80. Kenney
Try to find your build sheet. My 82's was under the carpet in the bottom of the "well". My '83's was under the bottom of the rear seat. Build sheets explain all RPO's for that model.

My build sheet only shows about half of the RPO codes that are in the center console. WY5 is a susp. perfomance package (according to the build sheet on the 84 T-top car). My theory on this is goes way back to 1969. The Trans Am was first introduced as a muscle car that could handle. Well, in the late 70's (78???) WS6 came around which was an upgrade to an already upgraded suspension. This was only 6 years before the 84s saw production and I believe (hopeing to get some more followers here!) that even in the thirdgens T/As were made to handle better than Firebirds and S/E's even if they don't have the 'ultimate' package. I just realized I had WS6 for the T-top car in my sig. That car is not a WS6 car I had the hardtop on the bottom originally then switched it around and forgot about that. I also believe WS8 is some sort of T/A suspension code.

If it was a Recaro you'd know. It'd say Recaro on the seats and they'd be leather and have a wierd net-style headrest among some other places where the Recaro name would be placed. If you only think its a Recaro because of the RPOs then I highly doubt it is one.
