??? on a 92RS

Hi guys, I'm new here so I hope this is in the right place. I currently have a 90RS, but I'm looking at buying a 92RS. I'm curious as to whether all 92's were considered 25th anniversary's or only the heritage packages? (this one is not a heritage) Also, it's a 305TBI (same as my 90) but with a 5 speed. It's pretty much stock (just exhaust done I think). Anything I should know about the 92's to watch for, or any info on what kind of 1/4 times I should expect from it would be great! Thanks everyone and Hi!

I'd say get it. The 5-speed would probably make it worth it. Welcome to the board!

I have a road test of a '91 RS 305/5 speed. The 0-60 was 7.9 sec, and the 1/4 was 15.9 or 16 flat.

all 92 RS's recieved the 25th Anniversary badges. The 16.0 sec range sounds right. I have one w/ a 5 spd. great fun to drive. I've had more power... but it's still a great car to drive around in.. even likes a few spirited runs. but I hit 112 and it falls FLAT on its *** .. damn speed limiter.. I'd say if the price is right, and the car is in good shape, go for it.

things to look for:

the obvious fluid leaks: Power Steering, intake, water pump, transmission(look up at the shifter as well, there is a seal on the stock one that can leak.. I know b/c mine does.), rear end.

make sure the fluids are all clean, and if the engine oil is dirty, get some proof that's it is REGULARLY changed, and it's due for a change.. even then I'd knock some cash off just for dirty oil(but i'm an *** ... so lol.)

good luck. FYI, i paid $5500 for mine w/ 72k miles. my friend paid $6000 for his 92 Convertible w/ 100K.. unless the car has less than 50k I wouldn't spend more than $5800.

I'm curious. What is the price? I also have a '92 RS for sale. It is also a 305/5-speed car with t-tops, 16-inch Z28 wheels and fully loaded with all the options. I also have the build sheet.

Hey guys, thanks for all the info! I talked to the girl who is selling it and she has had it since mile 1 and has taken excellant care of it (she's moving on to a '00 t/a). It has quite a few miles (150k+), but has all the maintenance records and such. The asking price is $4000, which doesn't sound bad to me. (it has had a few things replaced..water pump, has new racing clutch, flowmaster, new seals, on mobile 1, windows tinted, cd player, etc.). I paid $3k for my 90RS last November with 110k miles on it (but the body wasn't in near as good of shape as this car and everything on it was stock-not even exhaust yet or windows tinted!!). It sounds like a good deal but I just thought I'd ask you guys for your input since I don't know much about the 92's. Thanks again and I'll keep you posted.

the only diff from the 90 to the 92 is the wheels and the 25th Anniversary badges.. otherwise.. it's the same ol' "beast"..hehe... hope you enjoy(i'd shoot an offer off for $3200 w/ that many miles.. see if she bites.. if not, you could always call it wishful thinking.)

If you REALLY want to get picky, the 91-92's have Orange guage needles while the 90 has more Yellowish ones.
