Interesting little find in a 91 Z28
Tuesday, a truck, F250, backed into my Camaro as it was parked across the street. Someone told me to look at my car. There it was, backed right up with his right side of the bumper into about the center of the grill, as I later find out, right on the front emblem. He was talking on his cell phone and not looking behind him. Anyways, I keep a car cover on it so I think that's why no scratchs in the paint. With all that plastic it seem to absorb everything. That's when I noticed the emblem. He said he'd take care of it and gave me his card. Called yesterday, the emblem in stock!!! What a surprise. So I ordered it, $25 with tax. Today's kinda slow so I figured let's replace it. Undid the air box lid, pulled out the filters, and removed the lower air box. Feeling for the nuts on the back, it feels like a tree leaf has wedged in here. As I pull on it, it's feeling like some kind of trash. With a slight tug, out it comes. A very weathered piece of paper. As I turn it over it becomes very plain what I have found. A "build sheet!!!" The top wasn't there. So I felt some more and low and behold I can feel it. It was really stuck in there. So I figured it's already in two pieces, so if it's three. So I give it a tug, out comes that piece in one. Turns out it was taped in.
So, If you haven't found a build sheet in your 91 (?90-92?) car, pull out your air box and give it a once over. The center of the sheet was right at the front grill just above the licence plate.
Let me know what you find.

After 15 years it's finally out. I wonder what it would look like if I had found this 14 years ago.

That one looks to have the interior in the first group. From what I gather, each sheet cover 3 different build sections. I looked under all my seats, but, they're foam with no wires showing. Mine lists 3 different dept\group numbers than the last one. I also heard someone found one in the right door panel in a 91. That may be my next project.
And, since I bought the car new, whatever sheets remain, will be there.

Can you post a picture of it? That's the same place I found mine. I'm working on restoring the picture I scanned. I'm about 1/5th of the way through. As you can see I can't read the left side middle that well. Long process but so far, so good.

I found that in my passenger side door panel. Ive searched everywere for the actual build sheet but no luck. Ive swaped my whole interior out...and nothing was found. Ive read one other spot is on top of the gas tank? Not planning on dropping it anytime soon to find out.
My car is a '92 btw.

During my repaint last year, I disassembled the entire car. To no avail, I didn't find mine
. I guess it could be on the gas tank since I didn't take it out, but that's about the only place it could be.

wow... so it sounds like they just stuck them wherever they felt like it? haha
I found mine in the spare tire well over the wheel well, taped to the inside of the plastic. That was in my 1988 Iroc-Z.

I wish I could find one for my car. The only part of my car that hasn't been removed and replaced is the carpet, so unless they stuck it under there, I'm SOL. I've had the gas tank out of the car, I've had the bumpers off, fenders off, ground effects off, and the entire interior removed except for the carpet.

It's an 8 1/2" by 11" sheet of paper scanned at 300dpi. Using paint at an 800 times view, It is fairly easy to read. I'm able to copy parts of the letters or parts of other letters and adding to color in the missing parts. It's fairly easy to keep the original colors. The lines are really easy. And if I can't read some parts, inverting the colors you can make it out just a little better. Evidently, I scanned it pretty square. Very time consuming, though.
this is the build sheet I found in my '91 RS when I test drove it, The other sheets pictured were probably sub- assembly line sheets, I bought this '91 new and also a '89. in both cars, the actual build sheet and these sub-assembly line sheets were thrown in the car at the factory and were thrown out when the cars were prepped. One of the sheets was attacthed to the front of the car with tape, when these car were shipped out of Van Nuys, they came without the front chin spoiler, the sheet was taped to the lower facsia.

I could only find a partial to mine in the spare tire well. Enough of it to say turbo GTA
Here's a pic of the one I found under the hatch carpet in my '89 Formula.
I had the front clip off and there was nothing under there, also all the seats were out and nothing there either.
Now, on my '92 TA, I have nothing in the hatch, and am really looking forward to pulling the pass door panel to see if one may be in there.

Thank you RPM WOT L98, that's what I've been looking for. It looks to be an exact match in the small print. That will help me atleast fill in the small print correctly. The rest will be a good guide.
