I thought 82-84 Firebirds had the RPO sheet elsewhere. From what I understand they didn't start putting them under the console lid until '85+

82-85 Firebirds have a few of the RPO codes on a plate that is rivited to the radiator support. Starting in '86 is when the codes were moved to a sticker inside of the console.

That's correct Fast68, '85 models actually have a plate under the hood as well as the RPO sticker.

I also have a 84 Trans Am that had the RPOs listed for it, matched the VIN, so they are stock.

Like several others just said, I also had the RPO sticker on the underside of the center console lid in my 84 T/A. There is also a metal tag that is atleast partially covered by the radiator shrowd that has some codes on it.

6UK and 7UJ are spring codes, front left and front right.
17C, 55M, and 55P are likely paint, interior, or trim color codes.

The older the car in question the more difficult it will be to find accurate definitions since GM tends to change the codes from year to year or reuse codes when they become obsolete. The codes that are on the rpo decoder here were taken from the 91 GM shop manual, and there are/were some errors in the database. If you could find the dealership parts counter guide from the year car you're dealing with you could probably find all the definitions and they'd be accurate. Some of the codes aren't really that important or won't make sense, they're used to identify specific parts of the car for ordering replacement and repair parts... hence the SPID acronym Service Parts IDentification as is clearly printed on the label. In some cases the only time the RPO will ever be used is when you go to order parts and the computer shows three different parts with three different RPO's each.

You might try looking under the carpet IF it's the original carpet.. I pulled the build sheet off of the 84 Firebird I'm parting out.. found it under the carpet as I was pulling it out.. Got most of it but a corner was gone from it...

Re: Unknown RPO codes for 84 trans am

WS3 was a dealer "merchandised" option group... of what it consisted each year isn't fully clear, but grouped things like interior trim, power options, etc. grouped into cheaper packages vs pricing out each option on its own.

WS8 was the dealer sales/order confirmation verification

55P is Gold Metallic Wheel Color.

17I is an interior trim color.. cant remember which- Medium Gray?
(not Charcoal)

WU1 not sure, think it was the optional dome light w/ on/off spotlights?
('84 Bird wasn't avail with overhead console)

E6N.. no idea

Well that clarifies a few things anyway. I have some sort of dealer option that was offered. I do have a grey-silver custom door with black leather on the bottom. when looking at classic industries, it's only offered as a later model option. Maybe my car was made end of year so it got some 85 options?

I do have gold Metallic wheels!

I have a dome light with two map lights.
