missing SPID question

so, i am wondering .what can owners do if their SPID is missing from the console? are we just SOL? some would say it really dont matter if its gone. but if you care about such things like documentation.what do we do? how can we pin it down ? i ordered the invoice from GM media archives ,and it does give a lot of confirmation, but i notice there are more options on my car than it lists.im fairly certain it hasnt been monkeyed with by POs.and then there is this question, can you find out who bought your car new? if anyone has any insight i would love to hear it.

Re: missing SPID question

IF by chance it was a Canadian exported car (unlikely as you are in TN) then you could get the RPOs off of compnine.com

Right now the data is apparently gone gone gone. Sucks too because there are about 50 cars I really want the RPO list for

I'm in the same boat. I ordered the invoice and got a mostly blank page. Thankfully it confirms that the car is a genuine Y84 and has the N10 dual cat option. From what I can tell, the car might not have sold until 1990.

I keep getting sidetracked by "life", but I've been meaning to call PHS and see if they can get me any better information. You might try calling them.

Re: missing SPID question

When you can provide a VIN and retrieve RPOs for that VIN, assuming it's in Compnine's database and you have an account, on your time behind a computer, I don't see that as a joke. It's their percentage figures that lead people to believe a car is rare when it's not or their incomplete figures that skew production figures that is the issue - but that has nothing to do with requests like yours.

That Compnine doesn't have records for your VIN is larger than Compnine. Where else can you get that information? It sounds like it's gone from the source (GM). As you know, you can get an invoice through GM's Heritage center but that doesn't list every single RPO and is no replacement for an SPID. There is no other known options.

Since you have a 1986 and assuming it's not an export, you can't get the data from Compnine or GM at this time. Your only option is to find the buildsheet - which may or may not be in the car.

Re: missing SPID question

I am still flabbergasted that GM would have purged all of that data...
