crazy sellers...how about the crazy buyers. I just saw 2 sets of bowling ball hubcaps sell for $500 and $660. 82 Rear wheel flares for $120, a set of pontiac logo emblems for the hubcaps $73, PMD seat emblems for $128, a shift **** for $81, a CFI setup for $300....I don't even go on hardly anymore. Prices for this stuff get too outrageous

Hel like he said send your kid off to college with cheap money for a car. The price of a 4 year old toyota camry with 50-70 k on it can be around $12,000. At least this car would stick out in a crowd.

Let's see...you could buy that crappy little 2.8 carbed Bird for over $12k, or the late 80's yellow Formula on here with the 350 and 7k miles for that much or less (can't recall what the Formula seller is asking). You make the call.

She is pretty but talk about odd optioned cars.Custom interior with the rear security shade but no power windows or locks(at least it doesn't look to have them). It's neat to see oneI would bet there were wire wheel covers to go with the whitewalls at one time.I agree she's very clean, and if the miles are verified, that the price is steep. If she were a S/E then $4k to $5K as a start but $12.6 is steep.

okfoz, here is the car I am talking about:
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/fire...la-350-7k.html
Stock, 7k miles, 350, and beautiful. Price is $13.5k or best offer, so that means he'd take in the 12's somewhere I'd think.
Much preferable to this 2.8 car...many times over.

Yep, that's your basic no-option base model pos Firebird. I'm surprised it doesn't have the 2.5, seeing as how it doesn't have much of anything else. I didn't know they made steel wheels that ugly. It's really a damn shame that this car survived when you think of all the other nice T/As and GTAs that people ragged out and threw away. I would say that this car would be great for parts, but pretty much everything on it is worthless. I'd pay $2500 tops for this car, and that's only because of the low miles.

You can get them cheaper than that. My buddy picked up a black 98 T/A for $3500. It's not uncommon to see LT1s in the $2500-3000 range now.

Yes and the 4 year old camry is a better choice. No matter how you look at the car its still OLD...parts wear out from sitting. Who knows how it was stored or even maintained. Obviously the el cheapo tires tells ya something. Its a heavy *** car with a very underpowered V6 in it. They are not that great on gas...that car is just not worth that kind of price.

I love this part of the ad:
THERE ARE FIREBIRDS! AND THERE ARE FIREBIRD 2.8 V-6..WELL THATS WHAT WE HAVE HERE TODAY..A FIREBIRD.BUT THE BEST TO BE HAD.
THERE ARE FIREBIRDS! AND THERE ARE FIREBIRD 2.8 V-6..WELL THATS WHAT WE HAVE HERE TODAY..A FIREBIRD.BUT THE BEST TO BE HAD.
22 year old car with 10000 miles and it a firebird.Price doesn't seem to be that far off the mark.
I'm as anti-Toyota/Honda as anybody else on this forum, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that they would probably be a more reliable and practical college car than a 22-year-old 2.8L Firebird ... but that's beside the point. Point is ... this car is a 2.8L Firebird!!! Not a Trans Am ... Not a Recaro ... How much does a 6-cylinder 65 Mustang go for these days? Not much. But a 289 ... different story. That's my point.

Mint 6cyl I've seen go for $35k, mint 289 around $65k
And old 6 cyl. cars are crap IMO. Period. If you're going to buy a cool car, buy a cool car that sounds cool and runs fast. Again, this is JUST my opinion, so don't get mad.
But enough about Rustangs ... bottom line is that the V8 is going to be worth MUCH more than the 6's. So, if this 6-banger is worth 13K, then a V8 in similar condition should be worth around 30K? Don't think so.
I'm not here to debate Mustangs, but you're out of your mind. My first resto was a 1964 1/2 Mustang Vert with a 289 Hi Po and a 4 speed FROM THE FACTORY!!! VERY RARE K-Code Car. One of less than 350 produced. When it was finished, it was MINT, and it brought $25K eight years ago. The 64, 65, 66 ... not worth much compared to 67, 68, 69 ... esp. 69.

Ut seems like just recently the prices for parts on our cars is exploding through the roof. Heck, for my 84 Z28 the stock leather wrapped wheel in mint shape I bought off of ebay was near $150!
At this rate some parts that were relatively cheap in the past will now command big money later. Heck I had a dual snorkel air cleaner off of my car, I listed it for $60 on ebay, the thing got up to $300 by the time it was done, I surely wasn't expecting that. My suggestion to anyone that wants to restore a thirdgen is now is the time to do it. There are plenty of parts out there for them and they are relatively cheap still. And even some of the "rarer" parts in good condition for our cars is affordable. I hate to see what trying to peice one of these cars together in another ten years is going to be like. As the prices we are seeing on ebay will obviously start to reflect what the market and people are willing to shell out for them.

I think the reason some parts pull in a ton on ebay is because since these cars are not popularly restored yet, there are few aftermarket companies making parts. In another 10 years or so I'm sure part prices will go down.
