Plenum Extension/Distributor Cover

Did the cover that bolts onto the plenum which covers the distributor on the tuned port motors originally come from the factory made out of aluminum or plastic?

F-bods are plastic. There is an aftermarket aluminum piece you can buy, but I forget who makes it.

92purplehaze is right. Vettes are aluminum, F-bodies are plastic.

Re: Plenum Extension/Distributor Cover

You really don't need an aluminum one unless you plan on polishing it.

Also, the factory bolts from the plastic one won't work on the aluminum one. the "slots" for the washers are too small on the aluminum one. The washers are actually permanently attached to the bolts, so you'll have to go buy new bolts and washers. No biggie. Just a head's-up. You'll also want to paint those new bolts black if you're going for original.

I was able to get my plastic plenum extension from the dealer about a year and half ago.

Re: Plenum Extension/Distributor Cover

I got my aluminum one from the dealer last summer. Seems like it was around $25.
