MOVIN ON UP
MOVIN ON UP
OK guys, I am storing my unbelievable 87 Firebird indefinitly. I am going to pick up a 2002 firebird formula today. (they have to lowest prod numbers of any model that year, with LS1) What are some things I need to do. I have one kick A$$ 350 with less then 200 miles. Brand new exhaust with hi flow cat and flowmasters. New sound system with 1200 watt subwoofer. New leather seats. Excellent paint job, no rust, no dents. Any suggestions?
Re: MOVIN ON UP
I would never ask a question regarding the 02, that could get me kicked off the site. I am asking how to store the 87 for an extended period.
----------
Since you asked it a formula. Auto LS1 excellent shape. Still working pro numbers, looks like 491 made.

A search will provide you with storage options for extended periods..
I would suggest removing the battery and storing it on a workbench with a trickle charger. Cover the exhaust tips with a plastic bag. Cover the car with dust cover car cover to protect it from dust and dirt. Lift the tires off the ground but be sure the weight is still on the suspension. Don't let the suspension hang. Fill the gas tank full and add Stabil. Change all fluids so no contaminated fluids sit causing internal rust or clogging. Add dessicant bags to keep the interior dry. Do not use moth *****. Add a very heavy coat of wax to protect the paint.
The best thing you can do is get a storage bag. That will keep mice, and moisture out.

Also too, keep a spare fuel filter around. Mine sat for a year, and it did not want to run at all. But scott pretty much covered it all..
