Re: Date off the Assembly Line

you can see the week and month if you look on your body tag code on the rad support

look for a two number and a letter together code at the beginning of a line

such as 08E

august 5th week

Re: Date off the Assembly Line

Except that md65000's car is an '89, and it doesn't have the same kind of tag as an '82. The tag on the radiator support changed in the mid-'80s. And about half of the '87s received no tag at all, most-likely because the tag meant nothing, other than to reference the car's build sheet number.

And the locations of those newer tags tended to vary by plant and model year. Sometimes it was in the traditional center-ish location on top of the support. But it might also be found nearer the passenger side of the top of the support. But it means nothing anyway because there's no encoded information on it.

You'll find the month and year of production on a label on the driver's door jamb. But the exact date can be found with the last six digits of your VIN. I don't know how to find it that way, but perhaps someone who does know will chime-in.

Re: Date off the Assembly Line

I remember on my old camaro I found the build sheet inside the passenger seat cover. Do the 3rd gen's have a build sheet hidden anywhere?...

Nevermind, I just did a search. I may snoop around for it later...

It took me all of 2 seconds to find it. It was under the driver's seat under a little piece of material between the wires. It looks like someone may have tried to remove it before since there is a piece missing. Is this all there is to is, or am I missing a whole other half to it?...

I don't know what any of this stuff means either. It's still cool to have it though...

Re: Date off the Assembly Line

In this thread, David M shows that he apparently knows how to find your exact build date using the last six digits of your VIN:

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/hist...ght=date+build

And in this other thread, we covered the meaning of the later style body tags; showed that its location varied; and there are some pix:

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/hist...light=body+tag

It should be this later style tag that's on md65000's '89. And all that tag represents is part of the job sequence number on the build sheet, nothing else.
