Overhead console
Was a T-roof car required to have the overhead console?
I saw a pic of T-roofs WITHOUT the console--so I am just curious.
thanks

Re: Overhead console
The console was optional I want to think only a few years, 1987 would have been the last year.

Re: Overhead console
Overhead Consoles were an available factory option from 84-87 on all Hartop & T-Top models.

Re: Overhead console
Overhead Consoles were standard equipment on all 84-86 berlinettas. There are two different models, one that is flat for the hard top cars, and one that has a bend in it right around the map light location that is for t-top cars. The parts in them are interchangable, but the actual console unit are different.

Re: Overhead console
I thought that they might be available in 1988 but someone said no.
The T-top model is flat where the Hard top version had a curve to match the headliner.

Re: Overhead console
yea sorry i had the two confused. As mentioned, wiring harness, 4 screw mounts (pre-drilled holes already in your roof), two screws for inside the dome light encasement and the console is all you need to do a complete plug and play swap.
As you can see from my signature at the bottom, i have added one to my firebird, and it took all of maybe an hour? Give or take, as i've had a little experience in dropping the roof liner and where the plugs were. So very simple that someone may have added it, as i do not know when the roof console was absolutely discontinued from production.

Re: Overhead console
Hello John, you might have seen my post, could you answer my question about the overhead console?

I would think that the Hard top console would work better but its an ebay $50 gamble if you found one. But the thread was so mish mashed and hard to follow I really did not catch what you were wanting up front until I looked at the pictures, I was not really sure what the "Socket" was that you were speaking of.

Re: Overhead console
Yes, I guess it got a little scrambled. I was speaking about the swivel light, in factory cars there was a hole to allow the depth of the socket base, in my car the hole was never drilled this is what is causing the confusion about which overhead console would have been used if any As you can see in the pic posted below (factory), the hole allows the swivel light to seat properly, on my C&C car there is no hole hence I cannot fit the socket.
