1983 Z28 Value
1983 Z28 Value
Can someone give me a realistic value of a 1983 Z28 in today's somewhat slow economy? The owner wants $5,800.
The car is a one owner Z28 with 72,000 miles. The car is from Santa Barbara, CA and has no rust. It is very clean and is a L69 305 HO 5 speed car. It has power windows, locks, tilt and cruise, plus A/C. It has good but not great paint and the interior is very nice and clean. The car is totally stock with no modifications. It has a new set of Goodyear tires. The A/C is cold and it has no T-Tops. The valve cover gaskets are leaking.

Any thoughts or ideas as to this car's current value?

Do you think they are accurate on what I consider to be a collector item type car?

That is one of the main reasons I like the car! I do not want a Camaro or Firebird with T-Tops.

It's pretty darn clean, that's for sure.
Stock radio, Mint-looking dash pad. . . seats un-ripped. . .
paint looks pretty good for a 20+ year old car. I'd get it.

Yeah, it's worth that kind of money, maybe. I spent about that just getting my 84 in stock shape. If your plan is to have a cherry stock 1983 Camaro Z28 L69 then yes, it's worth it. If you're going to pull the seats and put in 4th gen seats, drop in a 350 c.i., with a T56 etc. etc. then no, buy a $1500 3rd Gen and go from there. And for everybody who has done those mods, I think thats great. I'm just saying, you'ed be spending a lot of money to then just start swapping things out is all.

Oh yeah, that car is far too nice to hack up.
But I'll tell you something, if that car were near me, I'd jump on it for that price. It looks VERY nice in those pics.

I would keep this car stock; it is way to nice to change.
The only thing that bothers me about the car is the vapor lock problems I learned about after doing research on Camaros with the L69 305 HO engine option. I do not want to buy a car with problems. I just want to be able to get in the car and go.

2500.00 No market and bad economy and giant oil prices are not favorable on these cars today. I love white third gens, that is a really nice car, but don't offer more than it is worth. Good Luck! Andrew
Re: 1983 Z28 Value
I would love to get the car for that low price but I do not think the current owner would ever sell it for that low price. I agree with you about the economy and gasoline prices lowering the price of a used muscle car.

Very nice car! One day, maybe I'll be able to get mine looking that good. I've had mine since new and I've been trying all these years to keep as original as possible.
I just noticed that the dash is an '84 and up style. Also, I believe the radio w/ equalizer wasn't available until '84. The shifter ball also has the stitching vertically instead of horizontal. I'm sure mine was horizontal before it wore off. I have two NOS that are horizontal. Interesting.
BTW, get the car!

Depending on mileage it's probably a steal at that price. But just because of the economy and gas prices I'd at least try to get him down to $5,500, if not and it checks out all good just give him what he wants.

Maybe *just maybe* you could talk him down to $5,000 even with cash. . .
Make like you're doing him a favor taking a gas guzzlin' Camaro off his hands.
It's very nice. . . I'd try to get it.

I don't know that it is the stock paint job. The air slots on the front air dam should be black but they're silver.
Re: 1983 Z28 Value
I have not talked to the owner in eight days. He has my cell number and if he decides to lower the car's price I think he will call me and let me know.
The last time I talked with him I again offered him $4,500 and he counter offered with a sale price of $5,300.
He may have sold the car by now.

Re: 1983 Z28 Value
A similar 1984 T/A with the L69 but with auto and t-tops went for $3000 recently. Here is the ad: http://www.newyorkfbody.com/viewtopi...391&highlight=
Personally, I'd prefer the T/A and its price... Although I just can't help but want to modify cars so neither one is the type of car for me.
