Keep cruise control? or delete...
I have an 85 Z28 with cruise control, only camaro ive seen with cruise control actaully...
and well it doesnt work, the wires to the servo are cut...why i dont know, previous owner. and ive tried connecting them, cruise still doesnt work. Im not sure whats wrong with it. The cruise computer is still in the dash(i saw it).
I mean i would probably never use it, but do you think its worth it to keep it, was it a rare option on these cars?
If i keep it...i still dont know whats wrong with it.

Re: Keep cruise control? or delete...
in 1985 it might actually be a easy fix... maybe not.
It might be as simple as the switch on the column is broken (not uncommon to have a broken wire.)
Personally since it does not weigh that much I would leave it alone, unless your that hard up to get that .01 extra MPG...

Not rare at all. Almost half (47.2%) of all '85 Camaros had cruise. If you want to use it, fix it. I drive only highway miles and couldn't live without it. But it all depends on your type of driving. If you don't think you'll use it (as you said), then you can just leave it.

thats odd because the last two firebirds i had have had cruise control but the previous owner cut the wires..maybe people had problems with them.. i still wouldn't cut the wires on it though.. lol

Mine sometimes does not work, just flip it a few times andit comes on. I would not delete it, I love to use it on highway, besides sitting low and having feet free are nice on trips to Orlando. Andrew

Re: Keep cruise control? or delete...
Most of the problems that I have had with Cruise has been with the Switch on the turn signal lever... Secondly the Vacuum controller under the hood....
I bought one car and the guy had no idea why the cruise did not work... Before I bought the car I noticed that soemthing was unplugged... When I asked him if anything did not work he told me the AC and the Cruise... A lightbulb went on and I said, Thats what that was for and plugged in the harness to the Vacuum Controller... I used Cruise all the way home...

Well, ill keep it, who knows maybe i might like it.
the signal lever switch is old as hell, theres no lettering on it. so its probably something to do with it. Ill also trace the vacuum hoses and reconnect those wires (maybe ill just get some lil switches, to test it temporarily to rule out the cruise.)

THere is a thread on here some where about Cruise control You can test your switch pretty easy. I want to think that you have the same system that I have on my 87. Here is a quick guide on the contacts at the base of the column...
