It was just on the top part of the seats if I recall correctly. Adam :-)

You didn't fix anything! Leather was not available on thirdgen Camaros until 1987. The second gens even touted ALL vinyl interior standard and fabric was an upgrade. The 3rd gen Firebirds had leather trimmed seats prior to 87, but I don't know about full leather. But since this has to do with an 82 Z, it came in vinyl, not leather.

Re: Leather Interior option help
Don't argue with Scott! Leather interior seats weren't an option until 1987.
HOWEVER, there has always been a "Leather Appointment Group," option code NP5, IIRC, which consisted of a leather steering wheel, shifter **** and e-brake handle. So that's probably what bowtiebruiser has(or had).
But the speakers have always been hidden by the sail panels, which served as "grilles." And neither the sail panels, nor the speakers, themselves, were ever covered in leather. So if there's leather over the speakers, then someone "dressed" them up.

Re: Leather Interior option help
I Know we are talking about a 82 camaro but I have a road test of a 85 T/A with leather in it.
Yes I do know its not a camaro I figured if the birds had the option y wudnt the maro?.
I'm just wondering if someone can give more info..
My 89 formula has the leather ultima seats in it and the ones in the T/A look real close to mine. Not quite like Recaro either tho.
Was Recaro a option still in 85?

Re: Leather Interior option help
The Recaro seat option lasted to '86 in the Trans Am but for '85-86 is was an interior option and not a complete Special Edition Trans Am option.
The optional Lear-Seigler(last year again was '86) seats were available in leather trim and that is problably what is in the '85 T/A road test article you have.

Re: Leather Interior option help
The leather trim was available on the LS seats in the Firebirds in 85. I don't believe these to be full leather. Most people think they have leather seats in the older 3rd gens, but it's actually just vinyl. I remember walking into a dealership and asking for vinyl seats when I was looking at a new IROC-Z. I was told they were discontinued the previous year and fabric was my base option.
