Two Q's about interior lights

1. Did any Camaro's come with a rear light that illuminated the inside of the hatch area? If so, could someone post a picture of where this light is located? It would be really handy have a dome light for the back of the car, either when the doors were opened and/or when the hatch was opened. Was this ever an option?

2. Did any Camaro's come with a light for the inside of the center console compartment between the seats? On my 89 Vette, there is a light in the lid that comes on when you open the lid. Did Camaro's have a similar light in the lid or inside the compartment?

I've never seen a Camaro without one--but I haven't seen every Camaro either. Open the hatch and look in the center of the black plastic that covers the rear of the hatch. Should be a lens and a switch there.

89, cool little mod. Did you come in through the clock stem hole?

I also thought that all Camaro's would have come with a hatch light, but I looked where I thought it might be located and couldn't find one. That's why I was hoping that someone might have a picture so I know what I'm looking for.

89 - I saw your thread earlier and thought it looked really nice as well. I hoped that maybe the factory had also put a light in the same hole as you used for your LED. It's a pain to dig my garage door opener out of the dark console at night.

Check post #13 of the following link:

Apparently some cars weren't equipped with the rear light just as some didn't have the front kick panel lights. Strange.

Re: Two Q's about interior lights

If I'm not mistaken the dome light shines directly into the console lid, so why can't you see?

I replaced my dome light bulb with this.

http://www.superbrightleds.com/specs/universalPCB.htm

My kick panel bulbs and license plate bulbs with these (second bulb down)

http://www.superbrightleds.com/specs...specsHP360.htm
Note: I havent fitted these into the license plate sockets

With the 12-LED dome light and 9-LED/ea. kick panel bulbs my interior is brighter than an amusement parks spotlights. Now add a PCB (12-LED) to the rear and OMG you'll go blind...haha. I plan to see if I can fit a PCB led kit into the rear hatch area. Size matters when it comes to LED's as they are usually bigger than their stock counterparts.

Thanks for the picture link on the hatch light. Now I definitely know that my car came without one. Shoot. I'll start working on adding it. Hopefully, the wiring is there, just no light.

For the console lid, it would be nice to have a light that comes on when the lid is open or when the dash lights are on. I could open the car door, but it would be nice not to have to do that. Admittedly, this isn't the world's biggest problem, but it's a minor annoyance that I would like to fix.

10-4 the hole for the old tic toc clock adjuster. IIRC i didnt even have to drill it out bigger, i used the same parts as in my ashtrey light they are both 100% the same...and i love em im thinking about putting 4 on each side under the dash to get rid of the 194 bulbs that are in the kick pannel, just put 4 evenly spaced LEDs on each side....should cost no more than $10 in parts.....i love rat shack i was in there today to get a wheat lamp to replace the soder in light that lights up the last preset and the "set" button on my factory radio, works great again
