help with trim tag?

Hey guys I'm looking at buying an 84 Z28, it's super clean with 44,000 documented miles but cant find a good source on the trim tag for these cars. The tag is printed as followss.
E 03C FP87 N 154500
59L 59U ENAMEL
648 AR9 CCL
Z28 D80
1 048745 345652
Does anyone have any idea how to decode these. Certain ones are common, such as fp87 Is Z28 sport coupe and N stands for norfolk. I know D80 is a rear spoiler, the paint code is 59 but on the tag its a 2 part and I cant find them. Any help would be awesome

Re: help with trim tag?

I'm more a Firebird guy but I can decode this :
E = 1984
03C = third week of march 1984 (build date)
FP87 = Camaro SC
N = Norwood, OH plant
154500 = sequence number, it should be the same as the last six digits of the VIN
59L = lower body paint, 59 was Frost Beige on the Firebird that year
59U = upper body paint
ENAMEL = paint type
648 = Camel Tan, are you sure it's not a B instead of the 8 ? If so, the it's Camel Tan cloth seats
AR9 = Deluxe Bucket seats
CCL = it should be CC1, which is the RPO for T-Tops
Z28 = ...
D80 = Rear spoiler
The last numbers are factory line numbers, not really "decodable".

Re: help with trim tag?

Thanks, I just found one of your earlier posts. That also helped alot. The 59U is frost beige, the part I cant figure is the lower, 59L. the lower is gold with gold wheels. It is original as I have pics sitting on the lot, I bought it from the original owner.

Re: help with trim tag?

Actually, the xxL paint code only denotes the lower half of the body, not the lower accent which is coded by xxM (without body kit) or xxA (with body kit). You should see the code 55A on the SPId sticker under the center console box lid.

The motor is not coded on the cowl tag but on the VIN, the 7th digit of the VIN is a "H" when your car had the basic LG4, or a "G" when it was equipied with a more powerful L69.

Just a couple more things to add to what Raptor said...

the 190 car will have an electric fan and dual snorkle air intake also a surefire way other than the VIN, look on the underside of the console lid, if it says L69 you are golden.

Vous avez tort. 8th digit vs. 7th digit is engine type.

Re: help with trim tag?

thanks you guys are alot of help. it isnt the l69 car , it manual fan and single snorkel air filter. What in your opinion would be a fair price for such a car. Car has documented 44,371 miles. I even have reciepts from every oil change the car has ever had! the only fault i ever found was a missing center cap.

Re: help with trim tag?

I know this is an old thread but I was having trouble finding out what the 55M was on the Service Parts Identification sticker since nowhere could I find the M designation here is what I came up with in case anyone else needs help with the codes.

(U)-upper body color I believe is above the molding
(L)-lower body color is below the molding
(Q)-Molding color
(P)-Wheel color
(M)-Lower accent color (stripe at the bottom)

55M : Gold Metallic (Firebird, S/E) lower accent color
55P : Gold Metallic (Firebird, S/E) Wheel Color
59L : (Frost)Beige (Firebird, S/E) lower body color
59Q : (Frost)Beige (Firebird, S/E) molding color
59U : (Frost)Beige (Firebird, S/E) upper body color
