1992 Heritage Edition Emblems
Alright, I know the package contained:
- Hood, deck lid, and spoiler dual striping, color coordinated to vehicle's color
- Body colored grill
- 25th anniversary badge on the driver side of the deck lid
- Blacked out headlight buckets
Now I also know the misconception of this package including the 16" "Z28" wheels, although anyone that has looked through the advertisements for the package, knows about the red RS with the 15" red RS wheels that also had the Heritage Package. So we can narrow that down to 16" wheels was just a popular package to come optioned aside the Heritage package itself.
Now as far as badging. I know for white cars and black cars, the rear bumper badge was supposed to be Red. What is the correct color of the rocker panel emblems? Some will say that they are supposed to match the color of the wheels. Though my wheels are white, everything I've seen including my own car has pointed me to them usually being the three shades of silver like most RS's of their time,. Yet this informational document, while being a Z28, has made me curious if the sides are supposed to be red as well. I just don't see why they would make the Z28 Heritage package different than the RS Heritage package. Anyone able to shed some light on the authenticity of this subject would be greatly appreciated. Who knows, maybe the document, while supposed to be historically correct, could be wrong. Look forward to comments.
For the record, my RS is white with the red striping package.

Re: 1992 Heritage Edition Emblems
A white Heritage car should have the red rocker emblems to match the red stripes. To back up your statement on the rim situation, I just happen to have a pic of a white Heritage RS with the white 15" wheels.

Re: 1992 Heritage Edition Emblems
Gotchya, curious that i've seen so many with silver. I figured that they should be red, but never actually seen a complete set, much less the red rocker emblems by themselves. Good to know, not to mention, i figured it wouldn't be a wasted thread putting all the information into one thread, being when i was trying to do my research i had to go through a few to get the complete story on them and what the package consisted of. Thanks Scott!

I have a z28 25th anniversary red with black stripes. My Rocker Emblems are silver and the z28 on the back is black. Car was repained so I don't know if the back should be black but I know the sides were silver.

Re: 1992 Heritage Edition Emblems
See that's what is weird, 9 out of 10 heritage cars i see have silver rocker emblems. That picture above is a first for me to see, plus that information card i posted was a first, which brought this subject up.
While bringing this subject back up, here is a little trivial piece of history kinda question. For christmas i got a 1992 Camaro Service Manual, the dealer book. Inside had the image i have included in the bottom. No one has ever made any mention of this detail on any thread when the subject of a heritage car came up. It's in the service manual, it has measurements, and it's clear that it's the same badge that belongs on the rear hatch as well, so anyone know anything of this? Thought it was rather odd, and again, i've never seen it placed there or any mention of a badge being placed there. Anyone hold the truth on this one?

Re: 1992 Heritage Edition Emblems
The manual was published before the car was built. This was a design idea that never made it to a real vehicle. That's what is awesome about TGO. For future generations looking to restore these cars, we have the firsthand knowledge and we are documenting that knowledge to clean up any misinformation or mis documented factory literature. Some factory brochures show options that were not available for that model year because the brochure was created prior to the vehicle release and the option was dropped prior to production.

Re: 1992 Heritage Edition Emblems
That's exactly what i figured, but after 20 years, i didn't know if most were stolen or just came up missing after a repaint, and i was nearly ready to go get two ready to put them on my car. But as i said from the beginning, i wanted this thread to be clean-cut so that in the future it's easy to spot, recognize, and restore a heritage car. Thank you Scott!

Re: 1992 Heritage Edition Emblems
Yea, maybe the emblems on the side seems to lose their redness infront of the metallic silver, because like i've said before, i see many silver side emblems with the red bumper emblem, so maybe it was just poor production, i don't know, but the blue/green emblems seems to last forever lol.

Re: 1992 Heritage Edition Emblems
My current '92 Z (non Z03 RPO) has grey/silver rocker & red bumper emblem. I was told that they are original and from the looks of them they are!
My first '92 Z (non Z03 RPO) had red emblems all around, the car was red with red leather interior...
My understanding is that the rocker emblems were coordinated to match the color of the interior - no clue about the rear bumper...

Re: 1992 Heritage Edition Emblems
See my interior is black as well...this is agrivating that there is no specific source to cite what is correct. GM kept the worse records when it comes to things like this.

Re: 1992 Heritage Edition Emblems
I have yet to read an official document saying that is the case, however from my experiences of what I've owned and seen I'd sat that is the rocker colors coordinate to the interior... Black inteerior would be the grey emblems IMO...
Re: 1992 Heritage Edition Emblems
My car is true unmolested and not changed in any way .. I have silver/grey rocker badging and the flame red interior. Not a match badging to interior. It almost seems that a car got the badging that the worker grabbed first. I have a white 92 as well and would love the red rocker badge just for a little more color.

Re: 1992 Heritage Edition Emblems
Well, after reading the post from "jimez1" that throws my theory right out the window... On my restoration I will stay with the coordinating color scheme just because it seems to make sense to me...

Re: 1992 Heritage Edition Emblems
Anyone else ever come up with any more information on the emblem color controversy?
My 92 Z28 Z03 Vert had a red emblem in the rear with what appears to be silver emblems on the sides, but the passenger emblem appears to be a faded red... Now silver emblem. I need to order emblems and from what I have seen silver side emblems with red rear is the trend.

Re: 1992 Heritage Edition Emblems
It's a little hard to see from the picture, but my white 92 Z28 ZO3 has red emblems on the bumper and rocker panels. You could also order straight silver wheels (Code 84P) as a no cost replacement for wheels with painted pockets.
