Our thirdgens being born

Hey guys, I was wondering if anybody has any sort of media regarding the assembly lines our cars were built on. I'm talking about pictures and videos of our cars being produced. Stuff showing the cars being converted (usually to convertibles) would be cool too. I tried a search which didn't yield anything unless I used the wrong keywords. So post up your media! This might make a cool sticky if we find enough stuff.

Leonard's website, which shows the last 1992 Camaro (and last vehicle) being built at the Van Nuys, CA assembly plant:

Here's some pictures that David M took inside Norwood, OH assembly plant as well as the Van Nuys, CA grounds:

Re: Our thirdgens being born

Long time ago I saw a movie on TV that had one of the characters assembling Thirdgens...

Today I came across some shots on the web.

http://imcdb.org/vehicle_93205-Ponti...d-Formula.html

It's from the Movie "The Best of the Best". From looking at the shots it looks pretty accurate to me and I would guess was shot on the assembly line.

It's funny they say that's a Trans Am... Flat hood, flat pedestal spoiler, 15" wheels, I'm sure it has base Firebird tail lights, and you can almost make out the Firebird emblems on the fender. So that'd make it 89 or 90. Funny because the idea was Trans Am styling in a base Firebird... It's probably a 6cyl. LOL

There's nothing wrong with the cars, it's just funny how people have no clue what really makes a Trans Am a T/A.

When the general public can't tell the difference between a Camaro and Firebird, or a Firebird and a Corvette in general... it's not a shocker that they can't distinguish between a Firebird and a Trans Am.

Yep, a couple months ago when I drove my 91 T/A vert to school, a girl in one of my classes saw it out the window and said "Who's Corvette is that?!"

I was proud to say that was MY FIREBIRD but whatever.

Re: Our thirdgens being born

I own a great book which is actually pretty funny because it contains information about the 3rd gen while the 2nd gen was still being produced! If you look around on Amazon, Half.com etc. It's called:
"Camaro - the third generation" by Michael Lamm. Here's a link and here's a photo of the book cover. http://lammmorada.com/product/camaro...rd-generation/

Re: Our thirdgens being born

I've had people call my old '91 RS an IROC...I've had people call my 4th gen an IROC...

Apparently, GM only made IROCs and Trans Ams...that's it...

Thunderbird and Mustang are certainly the two most offensive things someone has called my '02. Very upsetting, almost had to slap ppl. Idiots.
