TTOPS CORRECT WAY TO CARRY THEM?
Hello,1987 iroc ttops.i recently purchased a ttop bag off ebay and i was wondering what would be the correct way to carry them.when i put the first one in the bag should the glass be down on the carpet or up in the air?when i put the second one on top should it be the same as the first or opposite.i know the handles should be opposite of each other.may be a dumd question but doesnt hurt to ask so i dont break or scratch up my ttops.thanks
Re: TTOPS CORRECT WAY TO CARRY THEM?
Take the driver's side off the car, and put it in the T-top bag in the same orientation, with the glass edge towards the back seat, and the drip rail side towards you. Take the passenger's side off, and turn it around and put it it on top of the other one (with the flap of the bag in between, obviously), with the glass edge facing you, and the drip rail edge towards the back seat.
FTR, I always put them in both with the topside facing the sky, as they would be on the car.
12 years, no problems, T-tops off every time I drive the car.

Re: TTOPS CORRECT WAY TO CARRY THEM?
The directions inside my T-top back show both inserted in the bag with the thick edge toward the zipper.
Re: TTOPS CORRECT WAY TO CARRY THEM?
The illustrations always show the weatherstripping edge towards the open side of the bag, with the divider between the panels. However, if you actually stack them like that the zipper is pulled tight and the seems get pulled open. If you stagger them, they take up less space and the bad doesn't get as pissed off. As long as they're in the bag with the divider between them, you're not going to have a problem.
Re: TTOPS CORRECT WAY TO CARRY THEM?
I place one on the glass with the handle towards the rear, and the other side is glass up with the handle towards the seats. If you bought the zipper bag, it's easy on the zipper this way.

Re: TTOPS CORRECT WAY TO CARRY THEM?
After that, i put the outward sides against each other in the bag...solved the issue...

Re: TTOPS CORRECT WAY TO CARRY THEM?
I place the glass end toward the back seat with both sides. I am very gentle with them when I zip the bag closed. I then place the bag in the storage compartment. I DO NOT hang them in the suspended position. I tried this and a small tear developed where the strap attaches to the bag. On a clear warm no chance of rain day, I simply leave them home in a safe place, and leave the bag alone. If the remote chance you are involved in a collision, and you hit someone when moving along at a fast speed, they could end up in the front where your head is, no matter where you place them.

I stopped using my straps as well, since like mentioned the bag started to tear. I sewed h/d velcro to the bag on top of the straps, and the velcro sticks to the carpet on the hump.

I guess I should have mentioned - yes, I'm sure the velcro wouldn't hold on a quick stop - but if I have to stop that quickly, I have larger concerns than the tops crashing into the back of my seat!

Always, both handles to the rear and glass towards the front with the top of the tops up.

Re: TTOPS CORRECT WAY TO CARRY THEM?
I read this thread yesterday and thought I would try a few different configurations including the 69, and my conclusion is that TTOP350's method is best.

Re: TTOPS CORRECT WAY TO CARRY THEM?
Maybe if it wouldn't hurt anything, place the handles in toward the back seat, and not pull the straps tight. I have a small tear already, and I don't want to make it worse. I don't want to damage the drip edge by packing them wrong either.

Re: TTOPS CORRECT WAY TO CARRY THEM?
I read a post about someone wanting to put the 4th gen holders in a 3rd gen but the well isn't big enough you would have to enlarge the well . It would be great to have the holders .

Re: TTOPS CORRECT WAY TO CARRY THEM?
I guess you could cut a piece of plywood/particleboard the size of your ttop bag, pad/wrap it(so it looks nice and blends in) and put it under the ttop bag 4 support, then strap it down so the straps are holding the bag down and not holdin it up.

Re: TTOPS CORRECT WAY TO CARRY THEM?
If you place the tops in with both glass edges toward the front, you can tighten the straps fairly tight without damaging the bag. Although they straps are attached to the bag, all of the strain is happening between the front and rear body anchors. The straps are pretty much just keeping the flat parts of the t tops pressed against the carpet so they don't fall into the well.
