Well, uh, it is 1 of 624 with that hatch. I'd say its rare...you wouldn't?

Re: Wow, ultra rare 1988 GTA for sale!

Really?? I wasnt aware that hatch was ever an option on a Firebird or Camaro. I would agree that 1 of 624 would make it rare.

I own an all original 88 GTA notchback. I'll repost the thread that has pictures of it.

Re: Wow, ultra rare 1988 GTA for sale!

There was actually 718 of them built in 1988. The 624 figure that floats around only accounts for domestic (not exported to Canada). They were an option only on the 1988 GTA. It was a factory option, not a dealer item.

I've got a personal site dedicated for them as an owner myself:

Re: Wow, ultra rare 1988 GTA for sale!

1) It appears to be a Repaint (missing emblems)
2) Not groovin' on the wheels, original Gold Wheels would be a huge plus
3) Has either chrome tips or an aftermarket exhaust...
4) Can't tell if the windows are tinted or just the lighting....

Just noticing...

I noticed those things as well. A GTA notchback is at the top of my list. I occasionally see them for sale from time to time (never locally). Would love to get one when the stars align for me.

I kind of want to go look at it. Those wheels are heinous, however.

Re: Wow, ultra rare 1988 GTA for sale!

I think what really kills me for the wheels is they are 15s... If they were 16's they would be better, not perfect, just better.. I think the 15's make it look like a cheep old 3rd gen... The Factory gold wheels would make it look so much better imho...

Those wheels have a place, I think they would look nice on a different model, but not a notchback GTA...

Those wheels in 16" size were standard on the Contempos in 1986. Here's a pic of mine in 1990. I wish I still had that car....and my hair!

Re: Wow, ultra rare 1988 GTA for sale!

I never knew that was done by the factory. Now by looking at the car I really believe a hardtop vert could have been built ~ if the effort was put in to do a notchback?

Re: Wow, ultra rare 1988 GTA for sale!

isn't a notch just a bolt on replacement for the hatch? or is there more to it than that?

It was a bolt on, but I believe the rear seatbacks are slightly different.

Re: Wow, ultra rare 1988 GTA for sale!

The Notchback have different rear seats, they are split with head rests, however that wasn't required for the Notchback to fit. The TTA got those same rear seats.
