those aren't original seats, are they? I didn't know if the highback style was around in 82. I thought one seat had a headrest, and the other didn't...

Re: cleanest 82 since... 82
Broken speedo needle. What a shame.
The lug nuts are new, I bought some new lugs my car a while back, those are straight from auto zone or wherever - that's why they look so weird. Probably had rusty old lugs on it and they went to replace em with shiny ones.
Very amazing, clean car. Low mileage too. I think that's actually a pretty fair price on that thing.

Those are are correct '82-83 deluxe interior camaro seats. The Lear-Siegler option would gotten the seat with an adjustable headrest.

Re: cleanest 82 since... 82
There are so many good things to say about this '82. It's interesting to see a non digital Am/Fm radio, the correct hatch switch, console clock with a complete second hand - but the speedo is missing half, pwr mirrors, original paint in silver (only silver i've ever seen is on the upper half of Pace Car replicas),vinyl interior in excellent shape and look at the paperwork. I know the majority dislike CFI ,and yes I'm prejudice, but the more original cars it's removed from is such a loss as a whole. This one has me thinking of taking the 16" single stripes off and putting her original wheels back on. Hopefully she goes to a very good home.

Re: cleanest 82 since... 82
Just a couple of things I noticed. I think the dash pad isn't an '82. Didn't they have the simulated stitching around the edges and no notch cut out in the front were the two vents are? Also, I think the dash emblem "Z28 Cross-Fire Injection" had two shades of purple or magenta in the two top stripes not orange for '82 only. One other thing I can't see is the trip meter needle on the speedometer. If it is an '82 speedometer it would be at about 10:00 O' Clock and not at 6:00 as the later years were.
The car is clean, but shows some wear on certain items for a 33,000 mile car. I'd have to see more documentation to back up the mileage if I were going to buy it.
Does anyone know what price they are asking for it?

Re: cleanest 82 since... 82
The dash pad appears to be a '84 up but i can't say for certain. The notch above the vents is correct. If it is a '84 up it's not unusual since they were produced in greater numbers so finding a nice one is much easier. I went through this a few years ago for my '83 as there wasn't a correct one in decent shape to be found.
The odometer and trip odometer are in the correct spot for the '82-'84 dual needle speedometers.
On the Z28 CFI emblem I can't say because I have a '83. I think there was some discussion on the board about this at one time. You might be able to find the answer doing a search.

Re: cleanest 82 since... 82
I thought the early dash pads had the flat face and the piping. later ones had the angled face...
they are asking 10K for the car. they are relisting the car on CL several times a day, it's getting tiresome getting notifications on my phone so often for the same car

Re: cleanest 82 since... 82
That dash pad is correct for this car. Also, the magenta/purple on the dash emblem was a discolored emblem. This is, again, correct for this car.

Re: cleanest 82 since... 82
thanks Scott, I didn't think I was nuts (at least not regarding the dash pad)
Re: cleanest 82 since... 82
If you look closely at the first pic that shows the dash pad, you'll see the piping. Also, the later 84+ dash pad is angled, not perpendicular to the top.

Re: cleanest 82 since... 82
Thank you Scott for clarifying what pad this '82 had. I couldn't tell if the piping was there though the end (face) looked to be correct. I still have my '83's original dash pad but it's split ,and dried out, in to many places to repair. As stated at the time I had to go with a '84+ pad bought from a fellow member.

I always get a kick out of the headlight bezel and cig lighter bezel in those old 82's say "Lights" and "Lighter" at the top respectively.
When did that little feature disappear?

Re: cleanest 82 since... 82
The bezel markings were on 82s and 83s only, along with the 3-lined steering wheel, dual pointer gauges, and flat edged dash. 82 was the only year for that completely round shift **** also. Personally, I always wished that they kept the bezel markings and lines in the steering wheel.
While IROC-Zs are my favorite Camaros and 91-92 Z28s are pretty cool, I've always had a thing for those early Third Gen Z28s, especially the H.O. cars. Besides the rare interior stuff, they had cool features like composite hoods and the air flaps on CFI cars, which was pretty much the last real induction hood on any F-Body, far more functional than the air induction hoods that 4th Gens had.

Re: cleanest 82 since... 82
My Cross Fire cars really made an impression on me. I absolutely delighted in seeing the flaps open when I stuck my foot thru the radiator LOL! My buddy had an 83 Cross Fire, I had the 82, and another Buddy had a 90 RS(this was early in 1992..)and I decided then 82-84 was IT for me. Mostly still true, loved my 85 IROC(first manual trans sports car..YEAH), I have grown very partial to 91 and 92 Z28s, but now that I am looking to buy it's the early ones I look hardest at. Nice to see there are some clean ones still in the world.

Re: cleanest 82 since... 82
The early 1982 Camaros had several unusual items that the later built 1982s do not have. Has anyone seen the gas lid on the early 1982 Camaro with the hole you put your finger into to access the gas cap? It is smooth with the body and doesn't protrude at all like all other years. I've also got a promotional picture of an early 1982 with the same smooth gas lid with the hole in it on the "passenger side" of the car. That is why I wonder about the Magenta/purple and orange red Z28 dash emblems possibly coming on very early 1982s. I have one of those and wonder why the top two stripes would be the only ones to fade to magenta/purple and not all three of the orange/red stripes. My dash emblem has part #14031725 on it but doesn't say "made in Canada" like all my other dash emblems say. Just something I'm wondering about?
This also might have been a Canadian car with the 6 digit speedometer or the speedo might have come from a Canadian car.

Re: cleanest 82 since... 82
On another note, with 30K on the clock should all the white lettering be worn off on window switches, rear hatch release and power locks? Did they come off that easy?
It is a super clean nice original car and someone will be happy to have it.
