Hi,

Have an 82 Firebird I am restoring and it came with these wheels. Don't think these are the originals and am trying to place them. Think they look like the ones on the 86 Firebirds but not sure.

Can anyone tell me what model year these wheels are from,are they rare?

ill guess 84, but im no expert. kinda doubt 82.

 

I also dought they are from 1982. Probably came of a later car but what year is the question. The wheels are 15" by the way.

 

Those where the base model wheels from about 87-92. I am a little unsure as to the start year, though, but both my 89s and 90s have those wheels. Those look like they have been repainted gold as I've never seen them in gold. They should be silver with grey "accents" in the slots.

there might be production dates on the inside, but the earliest date i know of is 1986 since i have the same rims but those are definitely reapainted

 

I bought my '85 new with them.

 

They started on TA's in '84, and on base Firebirds in '87.

I have seen some gold ones on '84-'87 TA's, but the car is usually black with gold gfx.

 

heres a bad pic of an 84 trans am i had years ago. very similar looking wheel, differnt colors tho. as far as i know, they were stock. 15s i think?

 

Think they were originally Gold as the inside of the wheels are also gold. Someone would hardly go to the bother of painting the inside of the rims since they won't be seen.

There are two part numbers on the inside 10030732 and 10030733, also another number AD0484. Would this mean they were made in April 1984? maybe.

Looks great with the gold. Wouldn't mind doing that with my car but doesn't have the skirts.

 

The first year for those was 1984. They were RPO N78 and part of the Level III WS6 suspension package. Beginning in 1985 they were reassigned to RPO N24 and the softer Level II Y99 suspension. They continued to be available on the Firebird all the way to the end of the 3rd-gen production in 1992.

In 1982 the Firebird S/E would have came with N89 Turbocast "bowling ball" rims and color keyed hubcaps.

 

What is on the inside of the rims is PH57 and made by Rockwell International. Did all the 82's use the Turbo Cast Rimes or was there another type used on the Base models.
