whats the value price??

anyone tell me about what an avg price to pay for a 1991 z28 hard top auto camaro, 5.7, rear disc brakes with 3.23 gears. 130k miles. just painted, nice aftermarket wheels and tires, pretty much stock except for bigger injectors, adjustable fuel regulator, aftermarket exhaust, and underdrive pulleys. hes asking $5,000 for it was just checkin to see if the asking price is about right.

It all depends on how much you like the car and how bad you want it. It is hard for me to say without seeing it.

Re: whats the value price??

Somewhere between $500 and $7500! The reason for this response is we know nothing about the car, can't see the car and know nothing of it's history. Only you can tell what it's worth if you've seen it. The paint could be an Earl Scheib $199 special sprayed all over the trim and moldings, the floor pans could be rusted and the tranny could be slipping, etc. Who knows?

Again, you're not understanding what I'm saying. We have no idea. There are too many variables that affect value that none of us can tell you without actually seeing the car and knowing where you are located. Now that I see the car, the value is on the low side, because to me, it would require an entire repaint to get rid of the flat black! The engine has mods, but at 130k might need to be rebuilt soon. So now you have paint and engine. How's the suspension? It might need work, it might not. Only you can know what the car is worth by comparing it to other cars in comparable condition in your area.

uhh thats just it there arnt many cars in comparable condition in this area. let alone a 5.7 car. few 305 cars around but most are v6 rs cars. im not looking for a specific blue book quote, just a general price range.

Re: whats the value price??

99% of the time when a car has been "just painted" that means it was just half assedly sprayed by Maaco to sell it. IMO the flat black and bad hood gap pretty much confirm that's what it is.

Flat black is for when people are too lazy to do proper bodywork because they know the clear coat will show all the waves whereas junk can look straight with flat paint.

$3000 with that paint job, max.

Re: whats the value price??

You should probably bring a jack and inspect everything and take it for a test drive look over the paint closely ask if there is any records of it be serviced and so on. Price out what the car needs. Looking at it not knowing anything else its a 3500-4000 car.

Re: whats the value price??

Sweet looking car, but ask if there are any pix before the paint job. Like was said flat black is forgiving and can hide alot of small issues. I feel with 130K on the clock and a non stock looking paint job about $3000 is the max. Check the floors, behide the rar bumper cover, look it over well. Looks at the wheel well openings to see if there is mud there.

Re: whats the value price??

The fresh paint is worthless...who the hell wants a car painted flat black? You might, but no one else will when you resell it. It screams "hackjob," one step above being in primer.

I'm with Scott...who knows what its worth. Restored properly, in great shape, its probably a $7,500 car with those miles. With crappy paint and unknown mechanical condition? Sub $3k.

Then look outside your area for the car that you want. You don't need to buy what's in your area unless you are restricted to over seas where the pickings are limited to begin with. You might find a beautiful car in the color you want in great condition for a few dollars more about 200 miles away. Don't limit yourself!

Re: whats the value price??

Has there been any suspension work done to the car? Maybe its just the way that the car is positioned in the first shot. It dosen't look like its exactly level to me.

The other thing I noticed is that the lower front ground effect has been replaced. In the first picture the car has the kind of ground effect that was used from '85-'90 on camaros. The '91-'92 camaros had the scooped ground effects on the front of the car and along the side where the rocker panels are at.

Has the car been in an accident before or have any other body panels been replaced? Paint and body work is one of the most expensive things you will have to do to a car. If he wants $5,000 for that car with that low quality kind of a paint job and won't back down the price I would walk away. You can find another '91 Z28 L98 thats in much better condition for that kind of money. Even if we assume that the car is mechanically sound you should at least get the price dropped. If you got that car you would have to get body and paint work done. That looks like a real fast quick paint job that was done on the cheap.

Like others have said its hard to really come up with a value with out actually seeing the car. Take some more pics of the outside of the car, inside of the car, underneath the car and the engine compartment. If you can look for the RPO sheet. It should be in the console or in the lock box in the rear comparment.

Re: whats the value price??

At least $2,000 for paint that is the very low end, on up to $8,000 and more.

Re: whats the value price??

yaj15, good eye on the front ground effects. I didn't even see that. The car has no real value as it sits because it looks like a hack job with a flat black paint to hide body waves and bad panel alignment. I say, "Walk".

One thing that concerns me is it being a 130k mile car the trunk wells are probably toast knowing the drain systems on this car

Re: whats the value price??

I would for sure want a carfax on it. Was it ever wrecked? How many owners? If it is a locally owned car. Why was it completely repainted? Like others have said, what does it look like on the bottom, wheel wells, behind the bumpers, and floor and trunk pans. How are the bushings on the suspension?

I paid $5500 for my 91 350 auto with 112K. I am the third owner. I have personally talked to both previous owners. Mine has the original paint except a rear quarter panel was repainted becuase of a minor incedent. I have all of the paper work from the factory down to the last oil change receipt.

For that price I would double check everything on it.
