New 1989 IROC driver help please

Hello I just purchased a 89 iroc convertible and I have couple of questions. First I have included some pics for reference purposes. The motor in he car is not the TPI motor it has some form of fuel injection inside an old school air filter housing so i assume it is a 305? second it has this strange piece of plastic in the trunk wondering what it is. and thirdly it needs a new top down the road and I was wondering if anyone has a brand that they would recommend. and lastly I picked up the car for 1800.00 think thats a fair deal. Thanks is advance. Phil having trouble uploading files sorry will try again

The engine is the L03 V8 305. It was the base engine available in '89. The 8th digit of the VIN should be an "E". The plastic piece is the rest for the spare tire. The right rear quarter panel houses the spare tire.

Judging by the pics, you stole it for $1800. Engine looks to be kept fairly clean too, for the most part. How's it run?

Looks like a good deal to me, Iv'e been looking for a sport coupe in the local classifieds and there isn't anything under 2000 with any kind of respectable paint. So you did good.

Looks like a great deal for $1800! I assume it needs a convertible top, but still a good deal.
