Yummy! Things Like This Make Me Hate Being Poor!

Just Saw this on eBay. 1988 Metallic gray IROC-Z ,5.7L, 41,XXX miles. I love that color for some reason, cool looking car. But unless I win the lottery, it's way out of reach for me. Hope it finds a good home. Lots of good pix to download to my collection to look at later and wish I was rich!

Re: Yummy! Things Like This Make Me Hate Being Poor!

Looks pretty good, but I think a better one could be had for $15k. By the looks of the pullies it's been either regularily driven in the rain, or was exposed to humidity by some other means.

It also says factory 3.42 axle ratio which is impossible. I believe all the 350's got the Australian 9 bolt, outfitted with either the 3.27 or the wimpy 2.77. Is there some way to verify? There's no SPID sticker in the ad. Gears make a huge difference in a 3400 pound car with 240 hp and an automatic trans.

Should be 3.45 My white 88 and grey 88 have the same axle ratio, 9 bolt perf. axle.

GM3: AXLE REAR, 3.45 RATIO
G80: AXLE POSITRACTION, LIMITED SLIP
G92: AXLE REAR RATIO, PERFORMANCE

GM3 3.45 only available with LB9 & 5 speed, not with the L98 auto.

just checked, my grey one is a L98 and indeed it does not have it, nor do the others (all L98s) so you're right.

I think his "Buy It Now" price is high for a 41,XXX IROC. Maybe $10,000 or so is closer to the current retail on the car. I'll contact the seller on eBay and see if I can get him to add a pix of the SPID sticker.

Good looking Z.......

I also think you could buy a car like this for alot less direct from the owner, that said if you look at eveything else out there price wise, from Hot Rods to earlier musle cars, etc...... these Irocs are a super good value IMO

Looks like a nice car. Is it me or does the airtube look like it is off of the throttle body or ready to come off in the engine pics?

Yep, it's not on all the way. The left fog light is cloudy too.
