When I run my VIN I get GTA and none GTA version of my car??
I have a 91 Trans Am, when I ran the VIN at work two options pulled up. (This has never happened to me even with customers vehicles.)

How can I verify if it is truly a GTA or just a regular Trans Am?

What sources are you using?
Simply look for the RPO code Y84 on the SPID sticker. In 1991 the SPID sticker moved from inside the center console to inside the locking luggage compartment in the rear driver corner. If the SPID sticker is missing, go to Compnine.com and sign up for a free account and simply use your VIN. Look for Y84 on the listing. Y84 is the RPO code for the GTA option.

Awesome I'll look for the Y84 and tell you if it is GTA or not!

I'm confused.
Re: When I run my VIN I get GTA and none GTA version of my car??
Hmmm, I've noticed over the years lots of places pull up my VIN as a Trans Am/GTA. Only thing that really differs them are the RPO codes tho.
Look in your rear lock compartment on the inside of the lid for your SPID label that has your RPO code, Y84 as mentioned is GTA.
In 91 and 92 Trans Ams could be optioned with ALL GTA pieces and still have been *just* a Trans Am.
Say your missing the label, say the car is missing emblems, look at the metal mesh grill on the front middle of the hood, if it's anodized gold, GTA, if black, Trans Am. Course the hood could have been replaced or even repainted incorrectly.

GTA's don't have fender vents either like TA's have on front fenders. If you have them its a TA. Still not end of the world, really not much difference between engines and suspension.

91 Trans Ams like his did not have the fender vents either, that stopped after 1990.
