I really like the gold trim and tan interior with the red body.

Doesn't look like a mouse house but hard to smell the pics. I hope he gets a bundle for that car. Good looking machine.

Great find! I know where there is one similar with 400 miles covered in many years of dust. One of these days I have to go get it...
I'm surprised at how much orange peel it has...

I'm curious why some of the '87s I have seen have the power switches further back than others in the console... Anyone know why? Built in different plants?

All three of the 87's I own/have owned were Norwood cars and they were located towards the front of the console panel. Could it be that Norwood cars were towards the front and the Van Nuys ones were further back?

Same here, have only seen them like the eBay car in pics before. That's all I can think of or maybe they had a different console vendor?

Sorry these aren't the best pics, but my 1985 IROC (Cali made) has the switches more forward, but that might be because of my clock...

Re: Barn Find IROC on E-Bay
Awesome find. It'll probably need a lot of minor maintenance. There's a big difference between a 10k mile barn find and a 10k mile survivor that's been occasionally driven and started up once a month. Hopefully the right owner picks it up!
Re: Barn Find IROC on E-Bay
Interesting, just looked at this picture of my 87, they are back a bit.
I have owned a bunch of Irocs in the early 90's & never knew they came in two locations.
I learned something new, & early on a monday morning!

Re: Barn Find IROC on E-Bay
The switches look a bit crooked. Maybe someone back in the day added power windows and hatch release? Or the console bezel had been replaced and new holes had to be cut for the switches? Who knows.
Or I could go look at this car myself. Its a 10 minute drive from here.

WOW! I have owned 3rd gen camaros since 1984 and NEVER noticed the switches. My 1987 has the 3 switches further back not up front.Like they say you learn something new every day. How did I tell if it's a norwood car? I know the VIN will say but what digit am I looking for?

Re: Barn Find IROC on E-Bay
I just checked my center console on my 87 Iroc and the switches are a little further back. Mine was built in Van Nuys. It was made in July of 87 so it's one of the last 87's made.

Very nice! My car was probably built very close on the line to this one. Like Rich, I believe it's the real deal. My car's paint is the same and my switches are like that also.

I'm an "L" - forward switch mount ...
What is in the back of the trunk area - is that a subwoofer ?

Yes, that's a Bose rear sub unit that is contained in that deck lid. It's made up of two 4 inch subs and two amplifiers which power them.

If the story in the eBay description is true and the kid drove like a clown, there may even have been an accident in addition to the citations. I'd want to check it out in person before springing the amount it's surely gonna take to land this.

The Bose stuff does not age well, hard to find in good condition. Those speakers and wiring looks very nice.
Re: Barn Find IROC on E-Bay
I have many interior shots of '87 Camaros. It appears that for 1987, the forward switches came from Norwood and the further back switches came from Van Nuys. Again, this is based on pictures I have of 1987 only. We should start a new thread and get information regarding year, plant and switch location. Obviously everything after 1987 will be Van Nuys, so it'll be interesting to see what we get.
Every picture I have of 1989 on up Camaros has the switches to the front. Actually, I went through all years cars and they all appear to be towards the front except 1987. Can anybody else confirm this?

Looks like bidding ended at 13k. That top bid seems respectable to me.

I would want to see the underside of that car - $5 says it's not as nice as the top.

Re: Barn Find IROC on E-Bay
IF it is, I would think high teens low twenty would be right for this car. Kind of rare color combo, Bose, 5.7, T-Tops.
Last Sept. I bought a 1978 Trans Am W72 Black/Black and T-tops with just under 18,000 miles. I knew when I started putting miles on her things would go South. They did but not too bad. So the new owner of this Iroc better think about that added cost.
