Just got a 1988 formula with 5.7 ws6 red with t tops. How many 5.7 t top made? 105k miles

 

In 88:

L98: 2613
LB9: 2592
TOTAL forms: 13,480
total t-tops:6673

You could extrapolate, and figure 6673/13480 = 50% of Formulas recieved T-tops, so divide the L98 number in half to get a rough approximation. That number roughly would track TransAms but GTA's only saw a 28% ratio.

1990 was a very rare year for L98 T-tops

 

Seems like *more than 50%* received T-Tops.

Honestly, IMO, the hardtop is the one to have.

 

There is something to be said for a roof that isn't nearly as likely to leak every time it gets wet.

Both cars have just over 100k. T top car has been stored for 23 yrs. Other than a single crack in the dash interior is a 9 out of 10. High option to. Dose have a salvage title.😂 I don't see why! Only damaged bumper fender and door on passenger side. Is there any way to get the salvage changed back to clean?

 

You might be able to get a rebuilt title after inspection but, it will always have a branded title.

 

I know Carfax would show it having been in a accident

 

 

Are we sure it's an 88 and not an 89 ?

 

Gotta confess I did not look at the date on the title. I took the Po at his word on that. I will look as soon as I get home. What makes you think it is a 89? The formula 350 on the door?

 

89 and late 91 through 92 are only years you can get "formula 350" with factory ttops in USA.

 

T-tops data is available starting in 1990.

It's a 89. I thought I read on here that 88 didn't have 350 t top. That's why I asked him twice if it was a 88. No biggie for 800 I'd buy 10 more

 

Thanks for clarifying that, I thought that was 90 specfic, didn't realize it was 87,88,90 and early 91. Now that makes for a rare Formula. Ooops, I mean unusual.

 

Robert Casey's book lists 6673 1988 Formulas with option CC1 - "Removable roof panels - glass"

 

Are they 350/5.7 cars or just formulas?

However, I seem to recall seeing a couple 1988 Formula 350's with t-tops in the past.......but I could be wrong,
they may have been 89's

 

I've seen 88s but they have C&C tops. Can't say I've ever seen a 350 87-88 90-91.75 with factory ttops

 

Looks like you could get them on 87 & 88 GTA's with the 350 - so not sure why you could not get them on the Formula 350 in 88 ??

First place I popped over to. In fact, he shows them never available, any year.

 

Ok. The Po had parts piled in the car.bumper cover fender lights. You get the picture. Little stuff. I got the stuff out. Most will clean up good. Small 1 inch tare on the top of the back seat. Seats have dent's I hope will come out. I am soaked. Unloaded in the rain. Changing and heading back out to get rpo codes and pic's. When cleaned up still may not be a 9/10. I will let the members of tgo give me their opinions and rate it for me. I will get the rpo codes in a few.

 

Temps me to put the interior and engine transmission into my Blue 88. It is clean straight and no wrecks. Title already in my name. Biggest problem is don't have a non vats engine harness or ECM.

AFAIK this is the only years for T-tops and the 350
87 (maybe 88) GTA & Trans Am in CANADA only
87-89 IROC-Z (not many in 88)
89, 91-92 Formula...

All others 90+GTA/Trans Am/IROC, Should all be suspect
87-88 & 90 Formula should be suspect.
