How rare is the 92 5speed?
I have a line on one and I was curious. I did some poking around the web and found the GTA was in the 200’s for 92 but could not find a breakdown of auto/manual cars. I had an 89 auto 5.7 years ago and am now looking to replace it.
If I bring it home tomorrow, I’ll post some pics.

So this brings up the question then, is it any more valuable than any other same condition GTA? Or can I just treat it as the same value as any other nice condition GTA?

IMO the 5-speed cars are more desireable and sell quicker.. but I don’t find they sell for a noticeable difference unless it’s a low mile 1LE car. But any 1LE seems to sell for a bit more in pristine collector condition.
Are the 5-speeds harder to find? Yes
IROCs in general sell for more too. Mint 305 TPI Auto IROCs will bring more money than a 5-speed GTA.
If you desire a 5-speed, ****** it up, but don’t buy it because you think it will be worth more. If the car is pristine it will have value.

I want a metallic red manual. Lol. I wish it was a mint 03 Ws6 with a t56 and 408.
But.... lol a very nice 92 5.0 with a 5spd is still very cool in my book, and more in line with my budget.
So im probably going to just bring it home today.
Last question, where is the RPO codes located on the 92?

Well, the other cool thing about the 92 is that you can get classic car insurance instead of regular insurance.
A guy that goes to car shows with me has a nice 97 or 98 Ram Air Firebird with a 6-speed with a stock LS but has to pay $1000/ year in insurance..
My IROC has a higher agreed value than the insurance would give him for his car and I pay $400/year with Hagerty.
I know some guys that pay $300/year depending on what you want to value your car at. Having a 25+ year old car can be cool like that..

It's located on the underside lid of the locking storage compartment in the rear driver's side corner under the hatch. But given it's a 1992, you can still get the RPO codes from the VIN if you make a request should the SPID be missing.
Understand that in 1992 there was limited amounts of GTAs given 1992 was the last year for the Third Gen and the new Fourth Gen was next. Also, automatic transmissions far outnumbered the manual transmissions each year on the GTA.
Condition is an important factor. Don't buy a 1992 GTA, even if a 5 speed, with the expectations of thinking it's going to be a treasure down the road - especially if it's not in good condition.

I passed on it. Interior was perfect. No rust, but it had quite a few little minimal paint and light dent issues. Needed a fuel pump, and new tires. Perfect for a fixer upper, but I wanted a driver with no body issues.
If anyone one in the Denver area wants pics and info I would pm them or text them.

There was about 23 GTAs with the Manual transmission with the MK6 (3.42) and TPI in 1992. Unusual indeed.
