History / OriginalityGot a question about 1982-1992 Camaro or Firebird history? Have a question about original parts, options, RPO codes, when something was available, or how to document your car? Those questions, answers, and much more!
After maybe 20 seconds of opening the ad, I found.....
Wrong wheels
IROC-Z decals in the wrong spot
Trans Am door panels
Trans Am shift handle
1982 Camaro L/S seats. I say 1982 because they are maroon and that was a 1 year only color
No black headlight buckets
Mismatched fog lights
Yea its mis-represented. Yep it needs a lot. Many more are in the junkyard with no one out enjoying them. I hope maybe some kid out there can enjoy this car for the price of a used four weeler.
Obviously floor mats and dash emblem could be a nice car imo definitely needs interior work rather have the 85 to 87 style wheels anyway.seen alot worst ragged out thirdgens it's not worth $3800 the way it is.
It's actually a z28 guys. Look at the dash emblem.
I actually caught something none of you meticulous, detail freaks didnt for once.
I couldn't help but text him and call it all out, though I gave him the benefit of the doubt and acted like he just didnt know.
Pretty sure someone wanted an Iroc in this cars lifetime and tried to do a little conversion with their z28😂😂
Z28 is the OG anyways, irocs are over rated 😉

Well, I'm sorry to have to tell you this.......but in 1989, there were no "plain" Z28's. It has a tuned port engine, therefore, it IS an IROC with the wrong dash emblem.
I know in 91-92, B4C police package Camaros were an RS with a TPI engine. Not sure about earlier ones, though....but that would be the only other possibility

Ah, good point sir. I actually knew that, I cant believe that detail slipped through my fingers. After all, the iroc came from the original Z28 winning the international race of champions. Though I suspect this Camaro may be some sort of vin swapped, stolen, chop shop disgrace which had originally been an older Z28 spliced with everything under the damn sun to try and hide something. This seems to be way too suspicious to be a misunderstanding. Either it's something seriously bad, or somebody had a seriously messed up iroc and took it to the worst shop on this planet.
Why do you think it's some sort of VIN swapped, stolen, chop shop disgrace that was an older Z28? All IROC-Zs are Z28s. If the VIN shows it as an '89, it probably is. The car probably is a hodge podge of junkyard parts to replace damaged or missing parts from the original car. It could also be a car that was junked and had parts removed, just to have this guy buy it as whole unit and try putting parts back on to sell it.
We see it all the time even with nicer condition cars. People will swap incorrect parts in from another car and try to sell it as original. This is an '89 IROC-Z that had the interior swapped out with parts from an '82 and a also a Firebird. He probably had the parts sitting around or were in other cars on his property.

Yes, I know that all IROC-Zs are still technically z28's. I could infer that from the Z in the name name "IROC-Z", AKA International Race of Champions Z28, thank you. I think it is suspicious because of the way he replied to my texts. Regardless, it's still a 3rd gen and I still adore it in all it's hot mess.

Okay fellas this may be a rookie question, but what is the difference between an 85-89 steering wheel, and an 82-84? I've never actually sat in an early Camaro, so to my untrained eye, I don't see the difference
There is a "center line" on all 3 spokes on the early Steering Wheel,........ The 'center line' is only present on the left and right for the mid-late eighties cars.
