Well........I did it

I have mentioned possibly doing this on here a few times, and I ordered the yellow/silver stripe kit for my IROC. I got the Phoenix Graphics kit. I'm still uncertain how I feel about putting stripes on a DX3 stripe delete car.....but I just like the stripes. The kit should be here Thursday.

Now I'm gonna need some exact measurements from an original car for the IROC-Z decal placement on the doors! Hopefully someone can hook me up???

So I'm going from this.....

To this.......

Re: Well........I did it

Now you won’t be so incognito!! Lol

Those cars look great both ways. Without almost looks like maybe it was painted and never had them reinstalled, there’s some about that I like. Even more perhaps that this is how it originally came. Being graphics they can always be removed, do whatever you feel man and enjoy it!

Re: Well........I did it

I would think you could always remove them in the future. I think its a cool look both ways, but I'll bet most people that didn't know you could order the car decal delete would just assume the car is an RS or was repainted. I like the decals & seeing it could likely be reversed at any time, seems like a no foul install.

My only fear would be if you left them on for too many years & out in the sun often, then it might be a bugger to reverse. I am not too familiar with the phoenix decals or how thick they are, adhesive, etc.

Beautiful. (Striped or not).

For whatever reason, that yellow striping really works for me.

I support this decision... decals are removable.. It’s not a cheap set of decals (that’s the only rub)!

I like DX3 cars, but I also like white cars with the yellow/silver stripes.

I think its a great decision to go on and put decals on. IROC on the side of these cars is whats selling right now.

Re: Well........I did it

Well just in case you want the 88-90 decal location I measured mine..

IROC decal measurement

Driver side from bottom corner of the “Z” to the door edge
About 3” 5/8”

Driver side from ground effect to bottom of the “Z”
About 3” 1/4”

Passenger Side bottom of “I” to door edge
About 3” 1/4”

Passenger Side ground effect to bottom of the “I”
About 3” 5/16”

I was there when they measured the factory decals and both sides were not exactly the same... They put them on meticulously like the factory ones..

I think they look pretty correct..

Well there's definitely no mistaking what it is now, lol. I really like it. I can't wait to see it outside in the daylight. I measured out my IROC-Z decals EXACTLY where yours are. And they wouldn't have been the same side to side because of the slant in the lettering. It looks like they are where they should be. Thanks for the measurements again!

Those decals were kind of a bastard to apply. They wanted to come off the paint with the transfer tape. I used the same decal application spray that I use on all decals and no other ones ever give me any trouble. They could definately use a lower tack transfer tape....it would have made this way faster. It took me a little over 2 hours to do it all

Came out great! 2 hours isn’t so bad..

Were you getting a lot of questions from people and having to explain, “it’s an IROC ordered with stripe delete, etc..”?

I guess nowadays people would wonder why the hell you'd ever delete the stripes and decals but I remember thinking back then it was a cool thing to do..

Looking forward to the straight on side daylight shot... nothing like brand new decals!

The car just looks right now... definitely had to put the stripes too.. I’m sure those were a pain!

ALL THE TIME. Or at a car show I'd hear someone walk by and say "It's not an IROC.....it doesn't even have the stripes" etc. Some people just dont know any better hehe.

My fiance saw it tonight when she got home and she even said "It finishes it".

As much as I can appreciate originality of a stripe delete car, if I owned an IROC-Z, I'd want it to say IROC-Z on the doors! Nice job, looks great!

YUP that looks deadly. But I will say, it looks real nice with just the IROC decals as well and I am kind of really liking that look!

I like the stripes, I think the yellow and silver look really good on a white car and capture the "look" the car is known for.
