Re: 440 mile iroc on bat
Idk depends on how BADLY someone wants a pretty new iroc. I mean i dont see it being driven so it covers up that its a 2.77 granny gear car, single cat 230 hp. So the value isnt going to reflect upon the options, just more of a garage queen time capsule that leaves it on a open market with someone with deep pockets. There getting a new car essentially so that changes price of the market some.

It's got your name on it Ray......
Sorry, there are a lot of other cars I'd pay $50K for before spending that coin on an 89 IROC,
even if it has only 440 miles

Re: 440 mile iroc on bat
i agree .. there are a lot of wealthy people on bat buying cars and do it for fun it seems like ..see the same buyers a lot .. i would of thrown my hat in the ring in the low 40's but thats it .. this car is going to do well ..
Re: 440 mile iroc on bat
It's at $48 already.....at this rate it will easily go over $50
Re: 440 mile iroc on bat
see i do know a little about irocs , lol .. honestly the year , color and miles that we may never see again im not surprised at its current bid .. again there are a lot of wealthy people on bat that want to buy cars nobody else can get ..
i can see it now with everbody with there irocs with miles in the teens , twenties and thirties thinking this reflects on the value of there car .. it has nothing to do with there car .. miles in the teens on bat means prices in the teens on bat usually ..

The bids on this car are not by potential buyers, the seller is hijacked the bidding up to a ridiculous amount. Look down at the bids, packardparadise is the seller. He keeps out bidding the buyers every time. He put in the last bid at 48k.

The seller cant bid on his own car - impossible
Re: 440 mile iroc on bat
My theory is that packardparadise is actually Scott M bidding up the car as an example to BaT so they'll accept his IROC's price this time around. Kidding, of course.

Re: 440 mile iroc on bat
There are definitely "plants" that drive up the prices at auctions. When bidding reaches a plateau, and the would-be winning bidder is allowed to withdraw his bid, you don't actually think it's because his bid was "accidentally" based upon a "misunderstanding" of the bid price, do you? I won a bid like that once. When the bidding got higher than my range, I stopped bidding. Then when I wouldn't go higher than the next bid, there was suddenly some "confusion," and then after quiet, off-mic discussion, the "winner" was allowed to withdraw his bid, and I won based upon my previous lower bid. Legit? No freaking way. Auctions are full of just as many crooks as in the real world. And it sounds there's one involved in this one.

The 4.3 mile car had 3 pedals.
Re: 440 mile iroc on bat
I remember a $50k price listed in 2005. Is $100k too low these days for your car? If this one is already over $50k with 440 miles, imagine the price the LAST 3rd gen will receive, with only 125 miles.
Re: 440 mile iroc on bat
$50k wouldn’t have bought it in 2005🤓

Leonard, if you wait long enough, and if somebody with common sense works at GM, they'll make you on offer you can't refuse to put it in the heritage museum.

Re: 440 mile iroc on bat
I think when you get into these ultra low mile, intentionally stored cars, the sky can be the limit. There are often shill bids bringing them up just like they do at mecum or where ever. Although at mecum its normally when its below reserve. In auctions like BJ or above reserve, & your shill bid wins the auction, you pay both seller and buyers fee's, so you have to be ready for that big expense looking for that one real bid. its a common practice & no big secret. However, sometimes there is that one guy who has super deep pockets & the price becomes a small issue that doesn't get in the way because they want the car & if its optioned how they want, there is not more to choose from. Cars like this are simply amazing to look at & they likely fall into amazing private collections.
I would not shell out that much money, but it is interesting how many of us will pay more than this for a new 2500 truck & likely loose 10K on it in the first 2-3 years & think very little of it. I suppose maybe because its just what people do & if you want to drive a new vehicle, thats what happens, so people just accept it as normal.
I guess the big difference here is, you really can't drive this Iroc more than a couple times or it will cost more you than 10K to do so. So its not the same as a new truck or whatever vehicle, but it is the same kind of cash that nobody thinks twice about when its spent on a new car at 50K & up.

Re: 440 mile iroc on bat
Looks like the winning bid was $55,000 to someone who has bought some European cars on BaT over the last few months. Though he said he's got a Monte Carlo SS to sit with it.
Guess Scott will be emailing BaT to get his IROC accepted with his reserve?

Re: 440 mile iroc on bat
where do you guys think the price starts to change on these ultra low mile cars? collectors seems to go crazy over cars like this that are basically bought to be stored. 400 miles could happen over 30+ years of just keeping it maintained I suppose. Or maybe that happened in the first year? I would think 100 miles or 500 miles would be the same value? but is 1000 or 2000?
There was a 79 tenth aniveraray TA that sold on either BJ or mecum a few years back. Had very low miles, but was stored in a less than desirable garage. The car had a lot of rust of the poorly painted parts that would rust on daily drivers, but should not have rusted on a car in storage. I think that car sold for nearly 80K & it was solely because of the odometer.
I'll have to see if I can still find that car......

Re: 440 mile iroc on bat
does scott have a 400 mile iroc ? if not this car has nothing to do with any iroc that doesnt have under a 1000 miles .. now if you have a iroc with miles in the teens there are a ton on bat you can compare it with .. sadly not very impressive
Re: 440 mile iroc on bat
That said, it did bring in about 20K more than the famous clay bar IROC.
Re: 440 mile iroc on bat
that being said, this car brought 30-40k more than most of the irocs with miles in the teens and twenties in the last year and 20k more than a 3,000 mile 87 iroc that sold in august .. miles in the hundreds are in a league of there own for any car ..

Re: 440 mile iroc on bat
Haven't been here for a while so just saw this lol. It's impressive that an IROC brought that kind of money, but even if you got that kind of play money, what they heck does one do with a car like that? Ok, i from 20 feet away it's a super clean original IROC. But regardless of mileage, will any of these extreme low mile 80's cars ever see the kind of money as say, a 69 rs z28? Or a zl1? I was watching mecum a couple weeks ago. Seemed as tho old school muscle car prices are pretty low right now? I get the coolness factor, but unless your elon musk, don't see it as a real "investment?

Re: 440 mile iroc on bat
If I had that kind of disposable money I would absolutely buy a 91/92 Formula in that condition just to drive as my daily. Think about it - what can you buy brand new for $57k that wouldn't lose value the minute you left the lot with it? And probably turn into an electrical nightmare in 10 years when the CANBUS has fits of rage and refuses to BUS anymore? Nothing is the answer - and yet millions of people every year walk into a dealership and pay that much or more for today's plastic disposable garbage that will be software obsolete in a decade. I would rather just take out a loan at a slightly higher interest rate and buy something like this to drive around. No worries about warranties if I modify it a bit - what's not to like? But then I do own a performance shop so when something goes wrong it would just get modified.Yeah with more miles and some modifications you would lose some value but such is life. I would daily that and not give a darn what anyone thinks about it. And the time will probably come that I find something like this - maybe with a *few* more miles - and drive it like it's a new car - because I could care less what anyone thinks I should preserve because it's "low mileage"
