the car i just bought, the owner said it has posi.....it also has rear drums.......

i know it has 2.73's

and, no, their is no RPO sticker to be found

 

40,000+ 87 Camaro's had posi, of those 12,000+ were L98's. So the remainder would be divided between Lb9's and LG4's. Either way its not unusual enough to worry about.

 

I personally have owned, 5 thrid gens of them only 2 do (did) not have posi, my 83 camaro, T/A and one of my Formula's had factory posi. I would almost venture to guess about a third of all our cars had/have posi.

to agree with drew, not that uncommon.

i guess when i change my oil i'll jack up the rear and see if both wheels spin the same direction......................

 

If you want to spin the wheels, i remember having to put the car in neutral with posi.

Don't forget the tag on the rearend cover.

 

The tag would be a good indicator, but after 25 years the tag MIGHT not mean anything since they can be bolted on really easy...
