No.

Third gens are getting old. The older they get, the more variations you'll see, simply because current owners may want something "different".

The only solid color Z28 was the gold 1985 Z. Although it was monochromatic, it still had the three tone gold Z28 striping.

i have also seen a few solid color 1988 sport coupes

Maybe, just maybe what you saw were 1988 RS's, not sport coupes. The 1988 SC originally had silver or gold rockers and 1985-87 IROC-Z striping.

If have never heard of an 88 RS. Everything I have ever read has stated the only 2 models available in 88 were the SC and the IROC. Do you have any data to back this claim, or are you just pulling our legs?

Yes there were, even in 87. Only in certain areas, I think in CA, they became an official model in 89.

I have heard of the California model 87 RS, and always assumed it was a test by GM to see if it would sell, and that it turned into a full blown model in 89. However I never knew they made any in 88. I always assumed all 88 were considered SCs. Does anyone have any proof of the 88 RSs existance. I have seen pictures of someone's 87 RS on here a couple years ago, but never an 88.

Readers ride owners don't always seem to know what they have. For example, there is a '90 Z28 in Readers Rides. That would be one rare Z28!

BTW, I painted the gfx on my '83 and '85 Z28s to match body color. I used to think that looked better. If I had those cars now, I would keep the two tone scheme.

A girl I knew claimed to have an '86 RS. I told her she must have been mistaken 'cause they didn't make RSs in '86, besides, it looked just like a Berlinetta (no gfx). She swore it was an RS. Could I have been wrong?

Lately, I have seen more 1 color Zs and 2 tone IROCs than I would care to imagine...

Then I had an argument with my girlfriend's roomate's boyfriend (got that?? ) that his '88 Sport Coupe was NOT a Z28...it even had the Sport Coupe only spoiler!

What was his defense?? "Well, it says Z28 on the ground effects, and on the dash..." So, so sad...

Any backwoods bubba with an 84 Z28 can have a sign shop make up some vinyl Iroc decals... Seeing two tone Z28's doctored up with stickers isn't unusual. Occasionally you'll see a two tone Iroc because the owner liked the look of the Z, or what have you... Either way neither variation is factory...
