Firebird Gauge Bezel

Despite the fact that my car came with black seats and carpet, the gauge surround is gray plastic, as are many others that I have seen. However, I have also seen these in black. Did they come from the factory black, or are the ones that I have seen gray ones that have been dyed? If black was available from GM, what cars did it come on, and when?

Thanks for your help.

Wow, I thought black was rare...seems like maybe gray is in the minority? You can see my bezel in this shot (don't worry, those hideous mats are long gone!)

I definitely want to swap this out to black.

All 1985-1992 bezels are gray. The older style 1982-1984 bezels are black.

Does any body know where you can get new factory gauges for a 1988 trans am. mine the tach stopped working the needle is broke off the temp gauge and i need the clear plastic piece that covers the gauges. 1 more question the oil pressure gauge when you turn the car off the needle doesnt go down to 0 it stays where it was before you cut it off any ideas..

I don't think they do, T.J. But, with a little cleaning and paint, you can make yours white without too much trouble.

So, if it is only the earlier bezels that came in black, then any I find are going to have those buttons incorporated into them on the right side for the power accessories?
