Steering Column Swap in an 89 firebird

I am currently in a bind with my steering column. I took it apart to fix the common slack problem that is solved by tightening the 4 torx bolts. As I was doing so the bearing that goes around the shaft started to fall to pieces. The ball bearings were all over. I would like to know if this is replaceable or if I should swap the column. If swapping the column is the easier option then how would I do so, and what columns would fit. I don't have cruise, or radio options, no airbag, but have titlt. Any help in the matter would be helpfull.
