Yesterday I went to the junk yard like I always do on Wednesdays due to being half price days. Well I found a very nice shape Rear view mirror with the map lights. Now my rearview mirrow works great with the maps lights also accept the mirror has a bunch of scrapes or something like the mirror part is coming off in diff spots. Now the new one has a 3 wire setup and mine has a 4 wire setup. Does anyone know what wires are what so I can just hard wire it or is there a way to remove the mirror part only and install it into mine without breaking stuff. Thanks

 

The 4 way wiring probably includes the wire for the third brake light.

 

I dont understand. So some how the 3rd brake light feeds off power from the rear view mirror harness.

 

Your car has four wires to the powered mirror and 3rd brake correct? If so, it includes wiring connected to the brake switch as well as the mirror. BTW, the mirror is powered from your acc fuse.

 

OK then does anyone have a diagram so I can rewire the harness or again is there a way to remove the Mirror itself and then install it into my rear view mirror.

 

Try a search on the ACC fuse and review several old posts. You'll find at least one or more links to schematics there.

Well being that I take stuff apart at work to fix it I decided to try to open the mirror. Well I used a plastic pick with a flat head end and put it in between the trim piece that holds the mirror in place. It camp apart very easily and then pulled the mirror itself out and that was that. Did the same with mine and put them back together and it works PERFECT.

 

That's what I was going to tell you to do. I did the same with mine.
