new dashboard ??

I've seen the plastic dashboard covers for sale online for about 140. Does anybody know if there is a place to get a new dashboard? Mine is severely cracked and I'd really like to find a new one.

Re: new dashboard ??

You could try them or year one, hawk third gen, classic industries.
I am sure their are a few more companies out there too. Just have to do some searching.

You could spend $100+ on an Ebay one... but who knows how soon before it begins to crack...

The ones Year One and & Classic, I'm pretty sure they are all reproduction ones.... They're around $350...

This place...

Will redo your own dash... but they're over $500...

Re: new dashboard ??

I checked year one and classic industry's websites, couldn't find a reproduction dash on either. Also checked hawk. I've googled everything i can think of to find a new dash, but the most I've found is used dash pads or the dash covers. Does anybody have pics of an installed dash cover??

Re: new dashboard ??

No you are not the only one. It is very common because the door hits he dash almost every time you close the door. More so on the camaros. That is why the top rail on the door is also usually cracked.

Also where the screws in the middle of the dash in the vent go is a common cracked area, mine is also, but I dont care. I am going to fix the dash eventually and cover it in alcantara with white thread. So you wont see my fixes.

Its less of a problem with the firebird. They dont touch while the door is closed, its when you slam the door. And a lot of us slam them because the hinges are worn, or the gaskets are bad etc. I didnt realize it until I started to looking into getting new top rails and people said dont bother becasuae htey will crack again anyway.

The 82 and 83 dashes have a straight rear edge, while the 84 and up are angled. It would be nice if all the years will be available.

Has anyone tried "Just Dashes"?

Re: new dashboard ??

I just got off the phone with www.larrydennis.com, because I thought I found a replacement for 185, but it turns out that it was just a cap. Also called classic industries, the price for a replacement is up to 390 and they could put me on the backorder list where I would be number 450 or so. - Bummer

Re: new dashboard ??

i must be lucky cuz my dash has prolly 2 cracks that come from the passanger dash speaker and they only go for about 3 inches and my door rails are mint. but my hinges havnt got to bad yet. my plan was to strip all the plastic off of a ugly dash pad and do some modifiying as in shaping the edges away from the door rails so they cant hit and maybe install a air fuel mixture gauge and also a temp and voltage gauge molded in the dash pad. but idk how that would look i might try it in a week or so. if not oh well ill trash a dash that was already trashed.
