4th Gen Dash question

Just purchased a 98 Camaro dash. My question is the gauge cluster is from a V-6. Will this work on my V-8 ?

Also, Should I install the new dash before or after I put my Lt1 in ?

Wow !! Did the support on here come to a halt ? I've always had good response time in the past, just curious, I'll keep trying, (seems kind of odd talking to myself on here, lol).

Re: 4th Gen Dash question

Yes the cluster will work fine. But your tach will be off because it is for a V-6. Other then that your golden. I am not sure about the 3.8 but with the ls1 clusters you need to do a little extra work to get everything working right. Keep in mind you can swap a cluster from a bird dash into that with no problems.

I am no expert on LT1 swaps but that shouldn't matter at all.

Re: 4th Gen Dash question

tach will be off as mentioned, but the 98 isnt going to mate well with the lt1 harness.
youll need a 97 camaro cluster, or a 93-97 bird cluster.

Will the 97 Camaro cluster fit ? Does it look the same ?

Re: 4th Gen Dash question

the 97 camaro looks just like the 98-02 camaro cluster, but you can wire in each gauge whereas the ls1 stuff gets a bit tricky in some areas.
in your case, your lt1 harness will plug right in if you get the interior harness along with your swap.

i would take out the old dash, do the swap and run your wiring and then put the new dash in or your going to have a nightmare running wires.... also like said above try to get the in car harness so its plug and play

Re: 4th Gen Dash question

You might get lucky I hear bottom end of 97's are fully compatible and that includes digital odometer. As for the LS1 cluster like I said above it can be made to work.

Re: 4th Gen Dash question

I've got a 94 ta cluster that I was going to cut up to use the warning lights.(I have autometer guages) If you want it I'll trade you for the 6 cylinder car cluster. you pay shipping both ways.
