Freakin dashpad OMG read this

Ok so I did my reaserch found out about the four screws near the defrost vets. So I look under the daspad and see the screws ok so I remove them and dashpad goes no wear. I am about to just rip the thing out so I figure I will read this site agian. After around 30 threads I seeb this thing called a dash pad cap or coverso wtf is this so I go look carefully at mine an boom like a bolt of lightning. Ok so now how does this come off. well I tried to pull it off and its tuck so I tried to find out why it was stuck. So I tried to lift it up and rip crack oh shiznit well gone this far so screw it. Finally see the correct screws and now the old dash pad is gone now we need to find a new dash pad. Wow that was insane p.s. I also cut one of the dash suports Becuase I could not reach the nut dam it.

dude i just pulled all the bolts out of the bottom.. took the 4 vent screws out and pulled it off.. it took no more than 5 minutes. ive had mine on and off like 20 times and never cracked it. you must have been missing a bunch of bolts or something..

Re: Freakin dashpad OMG read this

Sounds like you missed the screws that are underneath the edge of the dashpad. The 4 vent screws arent the only thing holding it down...

Re: Freakin dashpad OMG read this

For future reference, when you get to the point where you're using phrases like "O shiznit" "Freakin" and "OMG"...it's time to walk away

I'm sure we've all made a mess out of a really REALLY simple job when frustrated, so lesson learned there.

Other than that, yeah the dash pad is cake as long as you take your time finding the bolts. You'll be able to take them in/out in no time now.

Re: Freakin dashpad OMG read this

you cut a dash support because you couldn't reach the nut? that's a big no-no. Looks like you'll be shopping for a new dash pad and dash shell. It really REALLY pays to take your time and remain patient. As Phishman92 said, we've all broken things when we've been frustrated and didn't take a break to recollect our thoughts and emotions. And breaking something will get you even more frustrated. For the future, install a little switch in your head that makes you turn off and walk away for 10 minutes whenever you reach for a hammer, pry bar or decide to use any other form of brute force!

Next time your tuggin something and it wont come out take a stp back and scream as loud as u can, it will help cool you off. The dash has prob like what 10 screws at most. easy to miss them if your head is spinning at 6500 RPMs.

Re: Freakin dashpad OMG read this

the one thing I forgot to minchin is that there was a cover on the dash pad it was like abs plastic and i could not see the screws on top by yhte vents becuase they were covered plus some one glued this cove on the original dash so when u remove the cover the dash is destroyed
