You mean....The multiple dials forward of the dome light?

Those are just for time reminders/notes.....Mileage trackers, etc. They don't actually DO anything, but manually turn.

Welcome to TGO. There're just silly little doodads to help you remember this, that, and the other thing.

You actually don't have to tear the console apart, the map light comes out by simply twisting the black plastic ring counter clockwise. If you need to take the console off for any reason, just take the dome light cover off, you'll see two screws that hold the console up to the headliner, unscrew them and push the console towards the windshield, it will come off easily.

You can find the flashlights on ebay once in a while, but they go for at least $50. There's two different ones, one says "CAMARO" and one says "FIREBIRD". Many GTAs and Trans Ams had this option, actually almost every GTA I've ever driven had a console. Also there's consoles for TTop cars and consoles for hardtops, they're shaped a little different.

Depending on the type: t-top toward the windshield, coupe toward the hatch. More info in the following link:

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/faq-...oth-types.html

BTW, the dome light area in these is very fragile. If the bulb is left on too long, the plastic around bulb holder will melt. Some members remove the bulb, some replace with LED's. I like 84 1LE's idea in the following link:

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/inte...ulb-sizes.html

The flashlights are engineering failures, IMO. At any rate, if you take them apart, clean the contacts thoroughly and apply some dielectric compound to them, they'll work a good long time.

RPO DK6 was produced from 84-87.

Those reminder dials are totally useless.

I used to set dates on those spoold all the time, but would always forget about them. You need a reminder to tell you to check the reminder spools!
