I wanna insulate my car, I need heat
I was looking at the website for that dynamat stuff, I thought it might be able to help me out, along with reducing driving noise, ect..
Well here on one of their pages it says it actually keeps the heat out. I don't know, right now I may be bumming heat from the engine, but I sure aren't keeping it in either. I opened up my door panel and its pathetic what they got in there..
You guys got any suggestions for my problem?

Never mind, I think I'm an idiot. It shouldn't matter whether it's heat or cold, it's either insulating or it's not. So as long as I have my heater I should be good.

Dynamat-type products will help with what you're looking for, but I'd look for RAAMMAT, as its very good quality and cheaper than what Dynamat charges. Should be able to put down a couple layers of the RAAM for the same price.
Now if you're looking to go cheaper on the floors, you could try something like Peel and Seal (found at Home Depot/Lowes), since its not being hung vertically. You will hear mixed results from different people, but its never let me down and I've used it in 2 different cars.
Another bonus from any of these choices is your interior will be quieter.

although you're not using it for audio reasons, there are a few different types of materials that get used and can vary the outcome. Cheaper versions use asphault and cause a weird smell while it settles in.
however, the website you're looking for is www.raamaudio.com

I went with www.secondskinaudio.com
Better prices & higher heat rating than any of the others...
There is a web page somewhere, that rated them the best...

That was the other brand I was thinking of, but couldn't remember the name.
As for the comparison website, that would be this: http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/

I would also recommend second skin audio products. I have the entire firewall and trans tunnel covered in their asphault sound deadener, followed by a large sheet of heatwave pro covering the firewall. The sound deadener is not meant for thermal insulation. It'll work, but their Heatwave and Heave wave Pro is much better. Thick jute fiber double backed with aluminum foil type material.
Needless to say, I can't feel any heat coming from the engine even on hot summer days, nor can I hear a whole hell of a lot coming from there. However... I do have side exit exhaust without a muffler, so I'm sure that's drowning out a lot of any sound coming from there too haha.

Re: I wanna insulate my car, I need heat
Thanks for the responses guys. My winter car is actually the one I'm looking to heat up. The door panels were falling off, so I've decided to throw in some insulation and a couple cheap new speakers. Now that springs a coming I'm SO CLOSE to bringing out the Camaro. I've got a lot of stuff i'm trying to work on right now, and it's gonna be all about soundproofing. Followed by new speakers and a dvd player. It's gonna be a fun summer

I am going to be doing this soon, best way i see is to try and work around the guts of the door, or disassemble the insides and then do it. I plan on the later.

Re: I wanna insulate my car, I need heat
Hey guys. This can be quite a challenge depending on the door and what you've got for guts inside. While it would be easiest to tackle with empty doors (regulator, glass, etc pulled), we don't always have that option. While it doesn't look pretty (who's gonna see it anyway?), best bet is just to go in with little pieces and lay it kinda like tiles. Gotta work with the space you're given and these doors are not the most user friendly I've come across. Just give yourself a few hours. Once you get done your first door, your second will go much quicker.
