Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
I had to have the back end taken apart last year to find a body issue. There, not just under the rear seats, but WAAAAAAY down in there, was one perfect peanut. I laughed my guts out. No one has ever drank or eaten in my Cam in the 19-plus years I've owned her.
Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
It's funny that I just came across this post. I bought my son a 91z as a project for us. My brother was helping us take out the interior and from under the lower back seat bracket he pulled out a bag of cocaine. A big one. I guess I know what the previous owner did for a living. Lol
Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
I always find a few interesting things such as extremely moldy sandwiches and ant colonies in every car I've bought. But In one parts car I bought there were male enhancement chews and paperwork for a courtroom appearance that hadn't happened yet under the drivers seat.
Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
Not really gross, but I still have an old stationary car phone dock bolted to the trans tunnel on the passenger side. I'm kind of afraid to remove it. One of the two previous owners must have used it at one time.
Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
Just tore most of the interior out. I found what might be a perfect stock (how would i know)dash pad in a convertible that has sat for 3 years with the drivers window open. No pictures of the dash.
Also someone stole my drivers floor. Lol
Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
I found a rainbow trout under my seat during break at work on one particularly hot, muggy summer day.
And later that day after work that same co-worker of mine had a heck of a time trying to start his 89 Firebird without a rotor in the distributor cap! And when he finally did get it started two days later, to his amazement his car wouldn't move-I guess that happens when your shift linkage is missing!
Oh and this is just some of the nice things we gearheads would do to each other.
Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
i swear on my life with this. after removing the whole interior, under a little a little spot on the floor pan was a decent size bag of cocain. it was the craziest thing ive ever seen before.

It'd be smart to lock your doors and keep your windows up if you worked there.
Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
I found a brand new 1985 penny under the carpet of my 1985 trans am. I also found some Japanese news paper stuck in my radiator. That's about as weird as it got for me.
Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
I acquired my '89 Formula last year 4th of July weekend, and because I'm the third owner of it I wanted to make sure there wasn't anything disgusting or weird in the car where nobody would notice. So I took out the entire interior and took off the back bumper and the tail light fixtures, and other than a large pile of corn seeds which I found underneath the passenger side rear seat when I lifted it up, and which had germinated, and had four inch long roots sticking out which had already begun to grow into the carpet, there was nothing out of the ordinary. I just sat there for a half hour pulling the things out. The car is all cleaned up and put back together and it's a very nice car other than a few things not working which are easy to find and hopefully easy to replace. I bet you can guess from experience what those things are.
Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
found a mexico DL under the rear seat, under the carpet, and a bunch of seeds.... car fax has 14 things and im curious as to what they are sense the car is a gem.
Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
I've owned many third gens over the years and had bought a few from Government auctions. Picked up an 89 Formula 350 TPI from the DEA in 1996 that was used as an undercover vehicle. My then 5 year old son was poking around under the seats and found a partially filled box of unfired 9mm cop killer bullets (the kind that will pierce body armor) marked for "law enforcement use only" I was able to keep my composure enough to have him hand me the box without throwing it to me like he wanted to

How were you able to determine they were 9mm AP rounds?
Lots of ammo boxes have that 'FOR LEO ONLY' written on it because it gives collectors and wannabes the giggles.

Do you still have it?
Box was clearly marked, was a DEA retired car. I forgot to mention there was also a memorandum found in the vehicle about a stake out - drug buy that this vehicle and the assigned agent(s) were involved in. You would think the cars would be thoroughly checked before sale, but this clearly wasn't the case here. I freshened up the car and resold it in 1998. It was one of the fastest unaltered third gens I've ever owned and would run circles around the 91 T/A 5.7 I bought afterwards

While repairing my broken door mirror I looked down in the door panel and saw that it was filled with these odd looking rocks
Can somebody tell me what they are? To me it looks like dried up glue but the whole bottom of the door is filled with it
No it's not poop
Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
I had the same thing in the bottom of my doors. I believe it's a putty or silicone used between the outer door skin and the center of the door frame. They dry up over the years, vibrate loose, and fall out.
Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
In my 1986 bird I just got for my wife I found an unmolested wiring harness well except for the fan which was hooked to a toggle switch. The previous owners had replaced the 700r4 with a thm 350 and the computer controlled quadrajet with an edelbrock and they neatly coiled up all the unused wires
Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
I found the back seats were actually bolted in! That may not seem like a big deal but none of the other 6 f-bodies I have owned have ever had them bolted down. oh and so far We have found $7.46 in change, Mainly under the aforementioned back seats and the center console lol
Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
1984 TA I bought a few weeks ago to part out...
CB radio linear amplifier in spare tire well. Not hooked up, no wires or anything ran for it.
1950's ford tractor generator
A couple bucks worth of change.
6 broke fake fingernails under back seats
About 15 ink pens
Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
My parts car had a spent shotgun shell and like 50 cigarette butts under the center console. Also found a thick sheet of aluminum and plywood covering a hole.
Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
bought a 87 formula from a guy at a gas station outside a casino 900 bucks cash. when i got home and started cleaning it i found cocaine, some pot and a couple of needles thank god i did not get pulled over on my way home.
Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
Got my car about 2 weeks ago and noticed something leaking behind the rear tire. Opened up the storage compartment and found a 30 pack and ice all the way to the top of the compartment.
Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
the small map light under the dash just above the radio I found to be pointless. its so dim, I never noticed it until I was taking the dash off one day. maybe the bulb is just extremely weak. it still works though. doesn't contain a regular bulb you would normally replace.

My doors were full of that stuff too,at least I'm not the only one.
Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
I haven't had the fortune of finding exotic items like most of you. I found a pair of Rayban sunglasses, a Dr. Dre CD, and a batman & robin taco bell game piece under the console.

This is my first time posting on this forum, not sure if it's on the right thread, pardon me for that, just trying to figure what those things in the picture are, accidentally broke the cap thing, thinking of getting a replacement. My car is a 1990 Camaro IROC-Z <img src="https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thirdgen.org-vbulletin/528x960/80-12919659_10153310740511396_5811780667416044933_n_af1e1b8946017bf03f28ecdfc294acaa88c1704e.jpg" title="I%20was%20wondering%20what%20that%20plastic%20cap%20is%20called,%20it's%20on%20the%20dash%20top%20of%20my%201990%20IROC-Z" border="0"><br><br><p><i>I was wondering what that plastic cap is called, it's on the dash top of my 1990 IROC-Z</i></p><br><br><img src="http://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thirdgen.org-vbulletin/960x540/80-12931292_10153310741266396_1299597843758105126_n_d298b5d0553eda78b756023c0944ead75f9184fb.jpg" title="I%20don't%20know%20the%20name%20of%20this%20blue%20thing%20socket%20which%20fits%20into%20the%20cap%20of%20the%20preview%20photo" border="0"><br><br><p><i>I don't know the name of this blue socket thing which fits into the cap of the previous photo</i></p><br>
Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
havent taken the whole interior apart yet, but so far found a door panel full of screws and bolts i was missing from different parts of the car, given it was owned by two owners and first one being a rich guy who had it totally redone and painted(cheaply) and not so obviously "not wrecked" who knows whats been left in there.
Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing you've found in your c
Dry leaves under the back seats, a disposable lighter that worked for a few days, missing interior trim parts under the front seats, extra spark plugs, a disconnected 320-watt amp that PO must have thrown in, and yesterday, a blown fuse with some thin wire wrapped around the blades and fried even further. There was another blown fuse still in the block, and then I found the cig lighter socket was shorted.

I've got a medical forceps on my front seat right now. I used it to remove the steering column lock clip. An equally likely explanation for yours is someone was using it as a roach clip.
Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
Being the only owner of my IROC, and the only disassembly I've ever done to the car was replacing the fuel pump and more recently, the temp gauge, I've never found any odd stuff in it.
But back in the mid-late '60s when I was a line mechanic at an Olds and then a Chevy dealership, I'd occasionally find some 'artifacts' in brand new cars, usually as a result of assembly line mischief. One such incident was a reported noise in the passenger door on a new Olds 98 which turned out to be an empty beer can rolling back and forth inside the bottom of the door. Another similar incident was a handful of ball bearings clattering around in the bottom of the driver's door in another new car.
