Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
Well, I was changing out the rear seats and found a can of Chefboyardee beefaroni (YUCK!!).
Then, this isn't really the interior, but I found a bottle of Wearever brake fluid under the hood (just behind driver side headlight).

Center console lid screwed down with some rather large phillips head wood screws.... Phillips screwdriver hiding inside.
Speaker wire used to replace many of the engine wires.

Haha hella laughing @ the fruity pebbles. That's a past prank attempt I think..
In my 89 GTA I found a 4th gen cassette radio as well as the original AC/Delco cassette radio. Also had louvers that literally blew off on the drive home.. Kind of interesting story.. Then I broke the rear window re-tightening the bolts that held the louver strip on after I took it off. I find myself laughing at my former 15 year old self scared to death to tell my dad I broke my own window on the car he bought me. Haha I was scared to ****.

I was (am) restoring my vert and found I had to cut a hole to remove the bolt on the rear trailing arms - both sides. Apparently, when they added the vert structure, they never thought anyone would want/need to service the rear control arms.

80 Camaro I bought years ago had the empty case from a backstreet boys cd. And some shotgun slugs. Maybe that explains why it was just the case.
Also a rabbit cage water bottle.
And a tape of spooky halloween sounds...?
I'm really not sure what to think of that one.

Just from two days sitting a mouse had started building a home on the right side of the manifold and I found a pack of cigarettes behind the headlights.
When I took my moms car to get an oil change there was a mouse that had made it all the way to the air filter and made a home in their. There was dog food, cereal, and other things(food for the mouse) shoved in the filter.

A pizza box inbetween the spare tire and the frame/body. Obviously it was there to keep the spare from pounding on the frame/body. I found this out when I removed the box. Kept on hearing this pounding and rattling everytime I turned or drove across a rough rode.

I finally have something of my own I can add after reading this following this thread a while.
I found a bunch of leftover speaker wiring running from under the dash to the rear cargo box, not nearly as interesting as the next one though.
While deleting my AC, I found a 17 or 18(can't remember)mm really rusty wrench underneath either the AC radiator or the engine radiator, can't recall which rad it was under. Easiest 5 lb weight reduction ever, right off the nose too.

I found a blunt and a **** ton of cigarettes in the floor vent. At first I was confused at how they got done there, then I realized they must have fell from the top vent.

The Weirdest thing I ever found in my car? Well its a recent buy so there's been lots of stuff. The initial first place tie was between a jury duty notice and a half eaten granola bar, but the other day I found an unused syringe so I think that's winning right now.

Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
I can only assume that an overwhelming majority of third gen owners are not the original owners of the cars. Unfortunately for those of us who appreciate the cars, many of them are beaten, trashed and disrespected horribly. On top of that, let's face it, the cars are approaching 20+ years old, so they've probably had a lot of owners who left a lot of things, hopefully accidentally, in the car.
The reason I bring this up is when I bought my '91 z/28, there was this really loud rattling coming from inside the drivers door whenever I hit a bump. Not even a rattling, more of a thumping noise. It wasn't causing any harm, and I was busy with school and work, so I let it rattle it's little brains out for about a month until yesterday I finally had a nice day and some free time to pull the door panel off and find out exactly what on earth was making that noise.
Well...here it is :
it's a solid steel coil spring. Weighs almost 3 pounds. I have no idea what it is/where it came from, as I've never seen one inside a third-gen door before between owning 3 and junkyard diving countless times. The only thing I can equate it to is one of the springs that older cars used to hold the hood open.
Well anyways, since I've made this astoundingly odd discovery, I was just wondering if anybody else has ever found anything weird in their third gen.
edit - crap, I made a typo in the title.

Almost two years ago, while a junior in high school, I bought my '89 RS from a guy who graduated a few years before me. He told me where it was sitting and that it was unlocked, so i went and found it in his driveway. The top half of the 2.8's plenum was in the passenger foot compartment, found a ton of gaskets, a nasty red thing covered in 4 lbs of hair (pretty sure it was a jolly rancher), an unopened condom, about $7.00 in change and a birdman and lil wayne cd. I kept none of it but the change. lol
Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
yeah i agree tho camaro owners are more passionate in fixing thier cars most mustangs are bought and just paraded around in to pull some chicks ahah just my opinion
Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
You've got a good point, but honestly, just drop it. I mean, I'm really sorry that another owner of a 18-28 year old F body couldn't handle the fact that 99-04 Mustangs are just nicer, sound better, and perform better than nearly any stock third gen out there.
In the same respect, I HATE fox body Mustangs with a passion. They are ugly as sin, the only thing they have going for them is the legendary reliability of the 5.0. When it comes to the third generation of both vehicles, the Camaro and Firebird are clear winners.
It's simply pathetic to be a fanboy to one brand. I mean, I could have bought an LS1 Camaro. However, the front end of them looks like a fish. I wanted a nice looking, nice sounding street car, that still got decent gas mileage, with a little bit of power to it. Came with 260 horses stock, I've got 3.73 gears, a BBK cold air intake, Flowmaster 40 series catback, and I'm ordering an SCT Livewire tuner later today actually, with custom 87 and 93 octane tunes. If Bama tuning gets it right, I should be able to put down a little over 240 RWHP, close to 300 at the crank.
Think about it. I'm not here mentioning an import, I own two American muscle cars that have been around since the 60's. I have my '86 IROC which is running a first generation 350 small block, and the '01 GT. My next addition to the collection is probably going to be a 1998-2002 Ram 2500 with the 24V Cummins diesel. Then I'd own products from all three of the big three. It's nice to have a variety, what's so hard to respect about that, if I'm staying American?
I like a few imports too. The Nissan 350 and 370 are pretty nice, and have decent power, I can respect the Honda S2000 since they actually put a proper drivetrain in it, RWD. BMW's are nice IMO. But, I wouldn't come here talking about them. Pretty much the ONLY reason why someone would be only a diehard third gen fan, and boo everything else, is because they cannot afford anything else. I love my IROC, but there are certainly better cars out there.

It's the seat spring from a Firebird!!
Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
I'm more of a GM guy, but I will buy other brands, obviously. If I could afford all of the insurance, and had more than a 2 car garage, I'd also have a C5 or C6 'Vette, and an LS1 Firebird.
LOL. Newer AND slower? Excuse me, but wasn't your IROC originally a mid 15 second car? My GT stock was a low 14 second car. If I had decent tires out back instead of 285 18's, and could cut a low 60' time, I'd be getting the best of Mach 1's. Or in more comprehensible terms in your case, running low 13's.
Look, I'm sorry that you're 18, and all you can afford is the IROC. They're great cars, that's why I also own a T-top '86 IROC. But, there are better and faster cars out there, in the same price range as a well kept IROC.
I'm a car enthusiast, not just a third generation Camaro enthusiast. My next vehicle may be a 5.9 Cummins powered Dodge Ram 2500, or I may buy a bike. A 2004-2006 5 valve Yamaha R1, or just something stupid, like a 'Busa. Whether you like it or not, a lot of people on here also like other cars.
Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
SCT LiveWire with custom 87 street tune, 89 performance tune, and 93 octane race tune from Bama tuning - $570.

Mustang needed a new front bumper, got it. Front bumper, fog lights, bulbs, fog light brackets - $90.

I wanted it to be slightly louder, and it has a cracked driver side catalytic converter, so I bought a BBK offroad X pipe - $100. BTW, the guy who sold me that BBK offroad X pipe, he owns a DSG pullied '03 Cobra putting down nearly 500 RWHP, a newer F250 Powerstroke, an original '66 Mustang, and guess what else? A '69 Camaro....

Next I'm sinking some cash into the Camaro, either picking up another decently running 350 as a stand by engine, or stroking my 350 block out to a 383. Who knows what I'll do, the slow Mustang might see 400+ RWHP by the means of a single 70MM turbo kit.

I've never had a car come with floor mats. Not even old worn out ones. It's like the previous owner decided to keep them or something. All six cars.

When you want a daily driver that has a little power to it, what's there to turn to? My guideline for buying a "modern" muscle car was:
- 2000+ model year
- Under 100,000 miles
- Manual trnamsission
- Air conditioning
- Decent looking
- Decent sounding
- Radio, nice interior
A long time ago, I think late 2009, I was mentioning how cool it'd be to own two F bodies, and looking at LS1 Firebirds. But, I changed my mind, I wanted to try something different. I had always loved Mustangs, but I bought a Camaro since they're the better platform for a drag car, and I mean, third gens are just cool. A 1985 episode of Macgyver made me want mine, where Richard Dean Anderson stole a yellow T-top '85 IROC.
Being a fanboy of one brand is lame, because one manufacturer is always going to have something better for each intended purpose. (Gas mileage, a track car, autocross, acceleration and braking, drag racing, or all out sheer speed, whichever) I have mentioned over and over that I am more of a GM guy, but I am a car enthusiast in general. If I like something, I'll buy it, regardless of brand.

Much as I love F-bodies, 4th gen mustangs are nice friggin cars, buddy has a GT, the 4th gen F-body might have had more power, but I like everything else about the 4th gen stang better, perfect car would be a 4th gen stang with an ls1, lol. 4th gen f-bodies just weren't very good looking imo.
Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
Your car, being that it puts down 400+ RWHP would dust the Mustang. Although despite the insults, I'm pretty sure his probably stock TPI would just get raped. Even more so this week, I'm hoping to free up a few more horses with the offroad X pipe and new tunes from Bama tuning.

I don't like the 4th gen Camaro too much, but the 4th gen Firebird is a nice car. I just wanted a change of pace.
Kind of stupid that a couple people hassle me about owning a Mustang too, even though I've owned a third gen for almost three years. August will make three years since I bought it. In stock form it's a low 14 second car with A/C & leather seats, and it's my daily. What else could I want out of a daily driven car? It's quicker than some "weekend toy" third gens on here.

Hell you suprized me by calling your Mustang a Mulestang. That my friend is funny. I sometimes call my IROC "The Rock" because it just sits there. Gallon of gas here where I live today is $3.35. Way too much. So I have to resort to the 4-banger Mercury Mistake .

What can I say, I'm a sarcastic person by nature. Even when it appears as if someone is insulting a car of mine.

Heh, that is kind of funny, despite the fact I'm a good driver people don't generally like getting in a car with me at the wheel, but I guess you never know if the person driving like a maniac is actually good at it or not, lol. I scared my roommate pretty good when I was in college and he caught a ride home with me,lol, I was weaving like crazy.

After a long night of drinking w/ 2 best friends on 1/1/2000 I made it back to my Camaro with a black eye, several stories and no keys (true story, in my defenseless state some guy attacked me) . I slurred to my buddy, 'if I only had a paper clip, I'd start this friggin car right now'. I reached into the seats and found a paperclip! I bent it into a funny shape, stuck it in the ignition and the car fired immediately. We laughed out loud for about 5minutes.
I had bought a 90 Firebird from Charlotte and it had a mouse nest in the stock air cleaner area.

I had to replace the entire interior in my 85 IROC because the PO was a serious smoker, so when I pulled the carpet I found the standard $20+ in change (mostly quarters), 6 feet of heavy gauge wire for an amp connected to nothing, about 30 cig butts, and an inch thick pile of cig ashes directly under my shifter. Also found a bent star wrench in the spare tire well and an access hatch cut for the fuel pump. Now, if you count the stuff i've found inside junkyard cars...

My car was disgusting. On top of the normal crap you find in cars we found, one empty bag of white powder, one bag with some powder left, razor blades, what resembles crack rock, crack lighters, weed seeds, weed roaches, dime baggies, some paperwork on methodone,a half dozen cut down straws, weird blankets, and the consoles got nasty stuff runnin down it,probaly hooker spit.
The pictures are after i cleaned it.This is what was just under seats.I ripped original seats out asap and carpet cause it was just nasty/Already got some nicer seats.Just need a carpet.
Oh and i was gonna drive the car home last sunday from Rhode Island when i bought it,unregistered, but I came to my senses on the way there cause police were everywhere.Im so glad I didnt with all this crap in there and the fact that the po rather get high than put gear oil in trans. It was bone dry and probaly would have gernaded shortly down the road, leaving me stranded with all this in there ha.I woulda been in big trouble
