Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
Haven't found much weird. My car had Shepherd Pratt (Mental Hospital) parking tags on it, presumably from an internship had by the person who owned before me. Oh, and I found some leaves in the air cleaner along with a filthy K&N filter... women. I also found brand new Pioneer speakers all around- I was told nothing of those before I bought the car
I'll be sure to post back if I find some good stuff while I'm tearing through this thing

I only found a plastic sheep in my glovebox of my '87. In my '72 Dodge van though, I did find a Doobie Brothers concert ticket and a 12V blacklight, for obvious reasons.

I just pulled the carpet out of my trans am and found $11.72 cents in change and a 10k gold wedding band ring. Weighed 3.5 grams and got $160 for it! Money is going towards finishing my exhaust monday!

Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
I can only assume that an overwhelming majority of third gen owners are not the original owners of the cars. Unfortunately for those of us who appreciate the cars, many of them are beaten, trashed and disrespected horribly. On top of that, let's face it, the cars are approaching 20+ years old, so they've probably had a lot of owners who left a lot of things, hopefully accidentally, in the car.
The reason I bring this up is when I bought my '91 z/28, there was this really loud rattling coming from inside the drivers door whenever I hit a bump. Not even a rattling, more of a thumping noise. It wasn't causing any harm, and I was busy with school and work, so I let it rattle it's little brains out for about a month until yesterday I finally had a nice day and some free time to pull the door panel off and find out exactly what on earth was making that noise.
Well...here it is :
it's a solid steel coil spring. Weighs almost 3 pounds. I have no idea what it is/where it came from, as I've never seen one inside a third-gen door before between owning 3 and junkyard diving countless times. The only thing I can equate it to is one of the springs that older cars used to hold the hood open.
Well anyways, since I've made this astoundingly odd discovery, I was just wondering if anybody else has ever found anything weird in their third gen.
edit - crap, I made a typo in the title.

Aside from that i also found a small mirror, bandana, about a dozen mice (both dead and alive) and every inch of the air duct system and rear side cargo area full of random stuff the mice had brought there.

In his defense its usually because he drives all day long, but I don't have much of a doubt that I when I am old and gray, I will still be behind the wheel of a fast car

I do feel sorry for the people who have ended up with my old truck. It was an old 71 ranger. It had probably a few more "rigs" than I care to mention, that and old real estate signs riveted to the rusted floor boards. It worked didn't it? When your 17 trying to live on a taco bell salary, you get creative haha.
As for my Firebird, haven't found too much in it that would be strange, except for this:

Obviously looks like some sort of sacrificial anode? The original owner used to work on submarines and then worked for NASA. But its aluminum not the typical zinc that is used for SA's in radiators. Nothings wrong with the radiator and the water pump was just replaced, but still unsure why someone would put it in there?
Eventually gonna be replacing the worn carpet and reupholstering the seats and lord only knows what will be found. What will be a given is I will find a full box worth of cheerios! My daughter loves her cheerios...

I know what that spring is for. Its the spring for the seat, its a little resistance when you flip the seat when passengers in the back has to get in / out. That spring make the resistance.

I founf the same spring in my car as well and it doesnt go to anything on my car. Im the second owner of the car and bought it from the original owner.

If it was inside the door, I'd be willing to bet someone at some point replaced the window motor or something in the door and took the spring off of the window regulator... That blasted spring nearly took off part of my hand via the regulator gear when the motor came out!

LOL
also, best things I ever found was in my parts car. All kinds of fun stuff. Found a box of 6 spark plugs, (v6 car, it's my parts car for a reason LOL), about 6 keychains with different sex positions, and the head of a pickaxe(??). other then that, between the 3 birds I've owned, probably $20 in change, and a set of brand-new headlights where the spare was supposed to be.

Me.
Now on a more serious note I found another oddity the other day when I pulled my dash...someone carved a heart into the plastic, strange indeed.

Funny you mentioned it. I also found the same thing behind my cluster when I yanked it to change the red bulbs to red LEDs. Not the first time I've had my cluster out but I never noticed it before.
It looks like it was cut into the dash and the edges were rough to support this idea, but if I'm not the only one with this heart in their dash this one has me stumped

Lets see a few 9mm shells, a towel that appeared to have blood on it, and a knife with a squeaky clean blade, but very dirty handle....And thats only the rear carpet. Pulling the front up soon, rear was pulled in 2010. Had a picture of the knife but I lost it
And in the two side vents and the two front vents on the hood all have lottery tickets and reciepts shoved in them

We didn't really find this in the car, but Me and my dad parked our Suburban in a Best Buy/Target parking lot. We came back to the car and some NASTY people had changed a baby's diaper next to our car and carelessly threw it on the side of the tire. I cannot explain what was in that diaper. Green, yellow, and brown with what looked like a consistency of runny mashed potatoes. Absolutely GROSS.
We also once had an 80's Mustang and I found a .38 revolver under the backseat with some .32 bullets.

I found a snake skin that was about 2 ft long behind the radio. I'm just hoping it was a rat snake cause I sure don't want a rattlesnake to poke his head out while I'm driving.

My 10yr old son and I just took out the carpet to day in the 87 iroc Z we are restoring and found mice nests in every nook an cranny and then when the actual carpet came out these huge black ants came storming out of the braces for the seats and support braces in the floorboard. I went and grabbed the gallon jug of bug spray with a battery operated sprayer and told my son to get em.... Whats weird is the mice (this car has been sitting in a yard under a tree for 4 yrs) did not eat any of the seats or panels... they are perfect (60k on car) but ate every wire they could find inside and out... weird! The previous owner was a outright bigot but for some reason there were flyers of all these rap battle competitions and bootleg rap cd"s....living in denial.....
