Re: Glow Guages

i don't have a set, but i was wondering if the company where you got yours sells the glow gauges for the earlier model gauges? like the round gauges not the 90-92 gauges.

Yup those are mine

Got them off ebay. Nice unit. They just go OVER the original face and are held in with the factory clear face. They had a little box (about the size of your thumb nail) with a dial for either glowing blue or green. Mine is the blue.

Very happy with them. Took about 20 min to put in including cleaning the clear face with some plastic polish.

PM "The White Knight". He has some glowing needles that he made (I bleieve he stripped the needle down to clear (from red) and changed a buld to a blue LED). Not 100% sure how though (memory is going). He should be able to explain what he did.

Re: Glow Guages

I have those same gauges mtflyboy... The po put them in and I'm not a huge fan. I think they look great during the day, but they don't seem to glow so good at night, and kind of look tacky. Maybe the po just did a crappy job with them, but I think I'm going to take them out. Also I've had nothing but trouble with the electrical to them, and currently they don't light up at all. Again, could be the po's fault when installing them, but I've yet to figure it out.

Re: Glow Guages

I have very similar gauges and am very impressed with how they look in car.....they have two color settings, blue and teal...also really makes car look good when you add the heater control and shifter indicator overlays to the equation.....not bad for $20 bucks, well worth the money!!

Remove gauge cluster (unscrew torx screws and unplug gauge connector)

Remove and clean clear plastic face plate (mothers plastic polish works great)

Remove gauge needles (carefully)

Have a beer

Install white faces

Reinstall clear plastic

Cut into power and ground wire on gauge cluster to light new gauges.

Reattach needles

reconnect cluster to harness

reintall cluster

Mount color control and choose color.

Have a beer

Total 20 min...including beer

VERY easy to do....beginner level

Re: Glow Guages

Nope, I actually used it very well, just today on the way home from work they turned off during a red light and i thought it was just a loose wire but nope

They looked pretty good, enough to make me debate on ordering another set, but i might go with just buying the bulbs and doing that instead like i said.

Re: Glow Guages

I'd love a set of reverse glow gauges for my GTA, but I can't find anywhere that makes a 140mph speedo type for a Trans am. It's hard enough just to find the standard type for a Trans Am.....

yes, that picture shows how hard it was to see. since then i've painted the needles a florescent orange and turn the cluster lights dimly. enough to see them. while i don't have a recent night shot, my web page shows the orange needles. eventually i'd like to replace the needles with some lexan ones and get a set of the small illuminators that someone else on these boards had done on a '92+, i believe.

here's a direct link to my glow guage page:

Thanks for the info, I like your idea a lot, but it seems like that might just be a little too involved for what I want to do. I think I'll just go with the other style that I've found when I do end up buying those and all. Thanks for the help!
