2010 interior
ok i'm not sure how this would work or if it would work at all, but what if I swapped a 2010 interior( dash, seats and all) into my '90 camaro. would it work and what do you guys think about it?
(sorry the pic is so big I couldn't resize it)

Re: 2010 interior
I think you've got a lot of work ahead of you. It would be really nice, but idk if it would work with the lines of the 3rd gens. It would be so terribly costly too that it wouldn't even make it worth it for another 5 years. All i can say is measure twice and cut once. If the demensions are correct, then you've got something to start with.

Well It's your car but I'm not a big fan of the 5th gen interior. I would think that it would take a lot of work to make it fit. But like I said It's your car, If you want to put the effort into it go for it.

Re: 2010 interior
yeah you are looking at a massive amount of work, and cost. With the amount of modifying of the 2010 parts you will have to do there is no gurantee that they will end up looking like they do in the 2010 camaro. I would get out your tape measure and start doing some serious measuring of both.

I do like the center console thats about it, but it does not look like it would fit in a thirdgen very well

most people seems like they wouldnt consider it. I think it would be cool to see done but wouldnt be willing, myself, to put that kind of time and money into an 3rd gen.

Sorry but I take this post offensively. Especially considering you're driving an import, no matter what engine is in it.

Re: 2010 interior
I'm with you. Regardless of my record for firing people up this week, i say if you like the 4th Gen's Interior, get a 4th Gen. The Steering Wheel looks so gaudy with the Air Bag in there. I do like the 5th Gen Interior though. The only problem with that.............. I can't afford a 5th Gen.

I've never been inside a 5th Gen. I'll have to take your word for it. I would LOVE to test drive one of them, but I'm not gonna subject myself to the sales pitch to do it.

Why would you even want that? The third gen interior looks so much better then the fourth gen or the fifth gen interior (I'm actually the biggest fan of the late second gen interior. My parents had a 1980 RS for most of my early life so seeing one of those interiors makes me nostalgic).

See if the seats and centre console from a 5th gen would work.
Forget the rest.

Re: 2010 interior
i'll rain on the parade too, sorry
the guages to my knowledge are going to be serial bus driven, meaning unless you're doing an engine swap too, there's no direct sensor/sender connections like you have on the 3rd gens and the LT1 4th gens

Re: 2010 interior
couldnt you swap the center gauges in if you did an LS1 swap?? correct me if im wrong, but from what ive read, the LSX engines are all pretty much the same except for displacement and a few minor things. their all the same platform. so wouldnt the sensors from an LS1 work for those gauges?? and if they wouldnt, couldnt you get the LS3 sensors and swap them to the LS1??
edit: and wiring that thing up would be a PITA. i would hate to mess with that digital info center.

Yeah, I know, I'm reviving an old thread.... Curious if anyone has done this yet. I've driven a 5thgen and can honestly say I wasnt impressed with the interior until I sat in it with the door closed. So comfortable! I agree the dash swap would be difficult, as it is BCM (Body Control Module.) driven. Basically you would have to swap over the entire drivetrain and ALL the wiring from the 5thgen donor car... I think. Wonder how the door panels measure up to ours....

Re: 2010 interior
Wouldn't work, and looks terrible, but the latter is not surprising, GM can't design an interior that doesn't look like cheap bloated plastic to save its life, no wonder they became Government Motors.
GM continuously fails to get the memo on how to design a decent interior.

Re: 2010 interior
The new Malibu, while it looks fantastic outside for the boring A-to-B sedan that it is, has the ugliest interior I've seen of the past decade. Believe me when I say I was sorely disappointed when I saw the inside. To me, this just looks horrendous (scroll down):
http://www.rossdowningchevrolet.com/2013-malibu
The Regal interior looks like it came out of 2001, the LaCrosse wouldn't be so bad if it didn't have the typical GM bulkiness and big control blob in the middle of the dashboard,
I'll give you that the Equinox and CTS look pretty decent inside though, but for the price of the CTS it should be good. Cruze is ok for what it is.
I don't know, I'm just consistently disappointed with GM's interiors over the last 15 years. Ford used to be just as bad, but they've really turned things around; the Mustang's interior is drop-dead gorgeous and classy, and I'm really disappointed that the Camaro's interior didn't turn out better than it did. The gauge pack is cool, but that's about the only thing I like, though I don't know how much I'd like having to look there to see my car's vitals.

Re: 2010 interior
Imo definitely not worth the trouble or cost, and I agree with puma, I'll pass on the cheap plastic interior that's typical of most new american cars, now an aston or jag interior would be nice...the brits know how to build GT cars...
But imo, the 5th gen interior really any better than stock interior...just newer(ie. more modern looking), if you want to upgrade best bet is aftermarket, some new seats, a headunit, aftermarket steering wheel, shifter, LEDs in place of incandescents can go a long way....lots you can do to spruce up the interior, thing I love most about 3rd gens is they are very modifiable.
