My idea for a brighter interior
My idea for a brighter interior
Since I don't have LEDs, I wanted to find a cheap way to get a brighter dash. I used a reflective metallic paint, and it worked well. I used it on the gauge reflect plate, dome light backing, and ashtray (just for kicks). It made the dash and dome light much brighter (The ashtray just looks unrusted now!). I'll post pics of what it looks like at night later today.

I painted my gauge cluster bezel silver aswell and it looks great! I put tin foil in my dome light backing (a while ago) but now I have LEDs for dome lights...good job!

I did the above several years ago (hey, I've been around a long time), and I agree that the reflection helps a lot--however, higher intensity 194's in combination with the paint is a knockout.

For real improvement, Gregz is right: LED's are the way to go:

Damn, I thought I was being innovative! LOL. Nice work JamesC!
I agree LEDs would be better, but on 3 dollar can of spray paint, I can't complain. The picture doesn't do the cluster justice, but it's much brighter, and I have no problem seeing it at night now. I even painted the headlight and lighter switch panels to give it that old school muscle car look. In my old Camaro, I painted the cluster bezel silver, and it looked great, I may have to do it with this one.
